Anime

What are your favorite animes ?

What are your favorite animes and which ones would you recommend? The recent ones are rather disappointing (I'm looking at you AoT)
A short review on why you think it's good is encouraged
Personally, my favorite ones are Fate/Zero, Kara no Kyoukai, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, and Baccano. I'd highly recommend them to you guys if you can stand slow animes. Steins Gate would've been on my list if they didn't take the easy route out.
Note: This post is for anime fans, keep the negative comments to yourselves, haters. (I really don't know why people would hate on animes though, they're a whole ton better than the regular TV shows they broadcast, movies included. Those that call us nerds are really missing out.)
P.S. Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children: Complete is on my list too (I'm a big FF fan (I'm very disappointed at the newer ones though, FF11-14), so this one's extremely biased), I wouldn't recommend this to anyone that hasn't played the original game. You wouldn't understand the relationships between the characters, and the story wouldn't make that much of a sense to you. Warning: If you plan on watching this one, there's a Deus ex Machina moment in this film, still doesn't take away the awesomeness of it though

P.P.S. Not a very big fan of the Big 3. (One piece, Naruto, Bleach)
No mention of Shin Sekai Yori ? That series had an outstanding story that really stood out among the recent animes and perhaps of all time.

Lol, its 200+ episodes (203? Idk if that includes the OVA)- but yeah, it's still long. Totally worth it though

-Gasp-, how could you not be a fan of Naruto. I mean Bleach and One Piece I kind of understand but.. o.o
But anyways, idk if it's been mentioned (probably) but I loved Eden of the East and, of course, Durarara! ~

Mahou Shoujo overwhelmed me with their melodrama, and there was a problem with the explanation of how Madoka is the strongest magical girl. Other than that, the series was great! Still need to watch FMA: Brotherhood xD

Completely forgot about Baka To Test, I love that anime as well. One of the funniest I've seen. But I have to say, out of all the comedies I've watched, Full Metal Panic cracked me up the most.

School Rumble - I thought it was hilarious when I first read it and it kind of stuck with me since then. Watched and rewatched the anime about 3 times for no good reason.
Gintama - The beginning was actually okay for me, I read a few chapters on Shonen Jump then a few years later I started the anime. I feel that the mangaka got so much better as the story progressed.
Monster - Very powerful and creepy but it's great.
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure - I watched it with Anime Club and it was really fun overall. I got my boyfriend into it
Daily Lives of High School Boys - it was hilarious, watched it twice. I love the ED

Ooh, I love Sakurasou and Angel Beats as well <3 Sakurasou was kind of repetitive and the melodrama kinda drove me nuts at times. AnoHana made me very emotional, made my chest burn, but it didn't make me cry. :o Love the storyline for Angel Beats and the comedy was top notch <3

Man, I know what you mean about long animes ! ! I barely watch tv shows or anime in general, but I took my time with FMA:B and managed to watch it last summer. It took a while for me to get into it but the story is so well rounded and the the characters develop so well, by the end it really feels like you just went through a lifetime's worth of effort with them. Honestly if there's anything I would recommend on the basis of of quality rather than personal preference it would be FMA:B.
As for KnB, it was actually my first sports anime but it really doesn't...feel like one? I dunno, I spent the entire season on the edge of my seat haha, and I cared about the characters by the end, even if some of their skills are a little over the top, but it was all really light hearted and fun or funny. Anyway you should totally try to get into both series! Or at least I think you should anyway lol
5. Baccano! The show can be pretty confusing at the start but in the later episodes makes much more sense.
4. Casshern Sins. I like this because the plot was probably the most original plot I have ever heard of. Not for everyone though because of the animation style and its pretty depressing.
3. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. No explanation needed.
2. Accel World. A lot of people hate it because of the main character but if you can look past thats its an amazing show.
1. Code Geass (R1 and R2 together.) Perfect overall, and dem feels man. The tears don't stop.
Haha, CG would've been one of my favorites but the second season kinda disappointed me. Don't get me wrong, I loved the ending. I still need to watch FMA: Brotherhood. I personally don't hate Accel World, it was a rather decent series (Much better than its disgusting cousin, ahem SAO.)

@cashmoneyinfini: Omg, I love the second season of that show, the character development is splendid. First season kinda bored me, I'm glad I made it through though. The Sister's Arc is amazing! Too bad it's over now

The plural of anime is anime. Just like how you can't say pokemons. It really drives me crazy o.o

My favorite anime is A Certain Scientific Railgun. I know that it's a pretty bad anime, but I just go crazy over it. It's probably the only show I get excited to watch when a new episode comes out.

I've also seen most of the stuff mentioned in the thread, as I've seen almost all of it, and it's all pretty good stuff.

In no particular order:

FMA Brotherhood - A must, if you haven't already seen it (unlikely).
Soul Eater - Everyone knows why.
Ai No Exorcist - Some might not like it, I think it has a good amount of action in it so~
Katekyo Hitman Reborn! - LOVELOVELOVE. Slow at first, but once you're into the main plot, you'll love it.
Steins;Gate - Probably one of the best anime ever made. It will definitely leave some sort of impact on you.
The World God Only Knows - (hehe) I usually don't watch these types of anime but I couldn't resist, being a girl and all.
