too much schoolwork, yo

How much schoolwork do you guys get each day (for high school students) or week (for post-secondary students)?

Would make a poll, but you can only make polls every 349 days or something.

Junior here.
Assuming I'm actually concentrating and not being distracted by other stuff:
.5 to 1.5 hr Calc BC homework everyday
2 hr to 3 hr per week APUSH (reading a chapter a week)
2 hr to 4 hr AP Chem per week

an English take-home essay once every one or two weeks

And I pretty much don't have any homework or very minimal homework in my other classes (or I
finish during class). In reality, it also probably takes me 2 or 3x the amount of time I listed above
to do my work because I have a problem with focusing for long periods of time. BTW all this only
gets me a B/B+ in the above classes (which sounds better than it really does because of the difficulty
of the courses in my school, but sucks to suck - colleges don't really take that into account; a B is a B
no matter where you go).

Sophomore in college (per week):
1 set of linear algebra ~2hrs
1 set of statistical analysis ~3hrs
1 set of Adv. Japanese 1 ~2hrs
1 set of differential equations ~3hrs

It's alrite.

5 hours tops, but lately I've been doing maybe an hour or so. I should really get up and do something.

@iTempo: Yeah, I've been successful for my first two years for sure.

And I definitely agree... I usually try and hit the bars a couple times a week (just on Thursdays and weekends) and just let goooo. I'm the kinda guy that needs to play hard if he's gonna work hard. With midterms I'll probably cut back on my drinking though haha.

every week i have readings from 2 classes. Each reading is like 10-20 pages.
I also have to do a blog entry every week for class 1 and a quiz and some online discussion post for my class 2.
I get a drawing assignment 3 times a week.

it doesn't seem much but the reason why i'm often behind my work is because the drawing assignments take a very long time. One of my classes is observational painting and I have the render the drawing nicely so that I can get a higher mark and not some 60%. I want at least a 75 in this class. So observational painting can take up to 3 days.
My other class is Illustration 1, and i take one day to do all my sketches and thinking process, and then 2 days to start the project and finish it. 3 days if I'm not motivated.
My other class is Graphic Design for illustrators. Okay so I don't really get a drawing assignment for this since I work with the computer so if I have my idea ready and I just need to make the thing, it can take just one day. However, making sketches for the idea can take 2 days.

I certainly don't think my program is 'hard' compared to academic courses like science or engineering but I wouldn't say that its a breeze and isn't stressful.

1 set of modeling life physics assigned bi-weekly.
1 set of electromagnetism assigned weekly.
1 set of optics assigned weekly.
1 set of organic chem assigned weekly.
1 set of differential equations assigned weekly.
1 optics lab assigned every 2 weeks with 1 week to complete.
1 organic chem lab assigned biweekly.

Not too bad I guess.

@Killeen: Maybe they have a different meaning where you live but what you described is called an alternative school in Canada, kids go to alternative school not because they did anything wrong but they just want a different work environment and short classes.

The first couple weeks of university wasn't that bad, but the workload is starting to pile up quickly. I just finished doing an online assignment that literally took me 4 hours of continuous working

In community college I rarely got homework. One English teacher I had gave around 4-5 hours worth of homework for a class that met Monday/Wednesday but stuff like that rarely happens in cc. Instructors tend to focus on the lecture/test method of teaching, which sucks if you're a bad test taker because there is no homework buffer to work things out lol. Now that I'm in uni I get like 3 hours worth of homework (at least) every night, and some 10 hours worth of homework over the weekends. But I'm an animation major which makes the work load a little different compared to other majors because we learn things conceptually in class and are forced to put them into practice outside of class, otherwise we won't learn anything.

im in college and I have homework everyday because I do my online classes when I dont have assigned homework or anything to study for.
Or if a miracle happens and I dont have any homework, I go over my notes.
This pass 2 weeks ive been studying every single day for ATLEAST 4 hours a night. (sometimes I get home at 5, and I sleep at 9-10)
I have 3 tests this week.. Almost done =_=

I'd say I put in about 70 or 80 hours a week. 3rd year... but I'm a pretty big overachiever. My course load isn't bad and barely has homework (pathology, cell phys, human phys, pharm, and environmental chem), but I usually relisten to lectures and make a lot of notes just to minimize work for midterms and finals.

I have 2 sets of weekly math assignments.
Daily Japanese vocabulary memorizations, readings, exercises.
Weekly Japanese quizzes.
Bi-weekly programming assignments.
I also do TA work daily. Preparations, office hours, & marking.
Throw in 1 or 2 midterms per week here and there.

The joy of post-secondary.

This semester seems pretty chill for me when it comes to homework.
I mean there's the online quizzes you take at home, but that's barely it ?
I usually just study for 2 - 4 hours daily to keep the information fresh in my mind ! ^ u ^
Also, good luck in school ! <3.

On average, like 2-3 hours a night. I have 2 study halls every other day though, so I just leave most of it for then. Next semester I'm going to have 3 study halls every other day. It's gonna be great.
i don't really know the actual definition, but basically here it's for kids that can't deal with 8 hours of school, kids that are behind, pregnant, etc.
...I don't think that not teaching and not giving work is going to help students who are behind, etc. That's just giving them a diploma, while teaching them absolutely none of the skills which go along with it.
i recently just enrolled in a charter school and its pretty awesome.
the teachers teach for maybe 5 minutes, give you an avg of 3~5 questions and call it a day.
you even get to use their laptops to play games, listen to music, etc.
oh and you only go to school for 4 hours a day.
the hell is a "charter school"?
