Jump n Barrage

So, I was in Stronghold earlier just kicking loose and doing some old-fashioned solo grinding and I learn that if you jump slightly before using it, like with an aerial DS, you can Jump n' Barrage! Well, I'm sure this is nothing new, and it won't matter in a few months, but I thought it was cool, so I wanted to share

@PhaseOfFact The reason behind the left/right arrow key is because walking has priority over crouching.
Which means if both down and left/right buttons are pressed, you would walk instead of crouch, always.

If you crouched, you will not be able to perform an attack, so if you jumped down from a crouching position, you'll never get to do a Cascade attack.
So basically you needed the left/right arrow key to prevent yourself from crouching, the down arrow key to guide your jump, then jump-cast as normal.

It's just the little game mechanics that you need to understand and take notice to improve your control.

oh, I thought you meant not to press those buttons lol
I will try that out and keep practicing~
Thanks~

Edit: Honestly, I doubted that holding left or right would make a difference, but man, it is so much easier when those are held down! Thanks for the advice~

For me it's:
- Left, Down, Jump, Dragon Strike
or
- Right, Down, Jump, Dragon Strike

The and I hold down as I perform the the rest of it.

hm, so I understand that all buttons should pressed almost simultaneously, but if it were in slow motion, would it be down, jump, DS?

I noticed something.

When I was spamming Barrage, I ntoiced my character would glitch and sometimes face backwards while still attacking the enemy.

It made for some lulzy moments.
hm, so are you guys pretty much succeed in doing the "go down platform" jump cast 90~100% of the time?
I can only get it like 10% right now lol
If it can't be done at will, then it might hinder your training process so you shouldn't use it if it's slowing you down but practise makes perfect.

Did you try pressing the left/right arrow key as you're trying to cascade? Because this was the frustrating reason why I wasn't able to do it when I found out about it.
Yeah pretty much. I thought most bucc's knew you could jumpcast most of our skills for different effects o:
You're right; I knew most skills could be jumpcasted, but I never used Barrage enough to consider jumping while using it. I guess I'm one of those weird players who always prefered DU while training and only used Barrage while bossing for the iframes, so it was quite a shock to find out that I could actually jumpcast with something as slow as Barrage~

Well, I knew about jump casting, but never knew about being able to go down platforms
Dunno why I've never tried it though, it does make perfect sense lol

Very interesting, never knew you could fall through the platforms like that o.o
So, do you basically do a jumping DS and just press the down arrow? I need to pretty much press DS and jump simultaneously to get a jumping DS =.=
Very nice to be able to do a lot of those gestures at will like that, and a lot of it actually looks pretty practical. I tried out using those cascading moves, and it actually seems to make sweeping ToT maps a lot faster. It's great~ Thanks for posting
Most definitely. If you accumulate how many Cascade Dragons you use at the end of your training session, you'll find that you save ALOT of time especially that it seems like you haven't got much difficulty with it.

Always happy to help, and glad I could.
It not only looks siiick, but it helps you move a tad after you use it to finish a Monster. Try it out with Demolition, BSB as well, among a few others.
Also, badass Knuckle ya got there x_x
Thanks It wasn't easy to get. Gali's PvP's so dead most of the time >_<
You can use it to jump off a ledge while finishing off the monster so when you drop down to the lower platform, you keep a little bit of iframes (depending on the altitude) so you can see which direction to make your next rush attack while staying untouched.

If you use it while Energy Charge is active, you get an additional 2 Touch Damage from it's passive effect for a bonus ~700%.

But if you're going to use Barrage with every jump, it's actually slower than just doing a normal Barrage.

As mentioned above, all of our skills can do this, not just Barrage or Dragon Strike so if you haven't already tried with Snatch then try it.
It's cast time is so much quicker than Dragon Strike that upon landing, you can continue running forward unlike Dragon Strike or Energy Orb which stops you upon landing for a short time to finish the animation.

However with Snatch, unless you can kill on it's attack then you will run straight into the mob being pulled into your face (and stall you more than Dragon Strike would unless Charge is active for it's stance effect) so it should be used as a finisher.

Also, some more info, if you press the down arrow key when you do this tactic, you can fall through the floor while attacking (given that the map you're in is multi-platformed and close enough for the drop). Once again, works with all skills so you can have a drop down Dragon Strike or Barrage (which is most practical to use if used).

I will post a video of a Cascading Dragon Strike if anyone would like to see a demonstration.
Thanks for the info. I didn't really think to use it that way; I thought I just stumbled onto a slow, hard-hitting Assaulter. Now I have to try out some of this! (Mid-air Snatch + touch damage of EC? Genius!) Please do post some of your videos. I'd love to see 'em
