Bm v10 update - Sep 21
Greetings Basilers!
Another week, another update on the BasilMarket v10 update.
##Buying, selling, trading, listings
Now for some details on how buying, selling, trading and guild listings will work on BMv10. Given that the game is slowing down, it makes more sense to focus on making it easier for you to B/S/T (as opposed to the current cumbersome process) and post listings. The format will be fairly close to [url=https://www.maplestory2.tv/MapleStory2-Stories]how it works on MS2.tv[/url], which is to say that most things become 'story' based. That is, if you want to buy, sell, trade or are looking for guildies / friends, you add a story and tag it with the appropriate hashtag. For example:
#selling ATK +99% Ring. C/o 99b + mowing my lawn for the summer. Must be in Topeka area.
These commonly-used tags will be one-click, easily-searchable. You list the stats / details you want rather than having to fill out a ton of fields in a form. Win-win. If you're confused, have a look at [url=https://www.maplestory2.tv/MapleStory2-Friends-Stories]how we do it on MS2.tv[/url].
##Front page update
To simplify the front page and to make it easier to see what's new at a glance, the current BM frontpage forum section will show new posts, similar to how a news site shows latest news at the top. Much easier to see what's new.
##Where'd my likes go?
First, some of you will have noticed that various likes counts may have gone down (or not). You may also notice that the site is snappier than usual (or not). The two are connected as I've put very inactive accounts into a deep hibernation state so that it's not clogging up the rest of the database.
##Custom avatars
I have been thinking of a way that we can do this on the site while also maintaining the player pics.
##Other feature requests
I and the mods do keep an active eye on the features you're all requesting. The feedback is greatly appreciated. Some we are working on, others are not necessarily the best fit and balance for the site. Do keep letting us know what you do/don't like!

Are you dumb? This website was first designed as an auction website for the game MapleStory. Just because it changed into a more chat orientated forum now doesn't mean the official meaning of the website should change as well. Also another thing how does these updates hurt you in anyway? If you don't like to use the auction feature or any of the features this site has to offer than just don't use them. That simple. Quit being so negative over little things like this. He isn't "changing the website" he's upgrading it from what it was suppose to be in it's original form. It's more of a social website now as well. So you can still continue to chat and check out stats if you want to. Nothing is changing so why are you crying?
Basilmarket becoming a social networking site just seems ehh..... more or less it is now.

I really like that youre revamping the auction system, its very outdated now and way too slow of a process.
Basil still has a considerable amount of users so it would be another amazing tool in helping buy/sell items if it is a very simple process.
Basil is so dead now. The same old thread that was created yesterday was still on front page only 5 threads below the newer threads.

I'm with @lecarde on the pages. I used to have a userscript to bypass the page because of how annoying it is, but since that broke and I'm scripting-illiterate, I've been forced to click through each time.
The only time we should have that in place should be for link-shortening websites, like adfly or teenyurl.
@MrBasil 1 thing I would really love to see is for Basilmarket to whitelist more sites like imgur. Currently if you click on any link that doesn't take you somewhere else on basilmarket or to the official maplestory website you have to go through the intermediary page with a warning. Why can't you add more sites that people use quite frequently, like youtube or imgur, to this whitelist? Its so annoying to deal with the intermediary page, and it doesn't really serve much of a purpose anyway
