Having trouble logging in?

Greetings Basilers,

for a couple of reasons, I changed BasilMarket's login system so that you have to login with your email address, not your username. I realize it was a mistake not to give you all any notice before doing so. Many pardons for the inconvenience this may have caused you. For the next little while I have re-enabled ID login again, so that you can login with your Basil ID or your email. This is to allow all of you to double check that the email associated with your account is still valid and current.

After this time, I will permanently disable login with Basil ID. Please make sure to check your email associated with your BasilMarket account to ensure that it is one that you have access to. Otherwise if you ever forget your password you will be permanently locked out of your account.

Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience
I would like to know if it's now impossible to login with your BasilID so that you can check your e-mail.

I just made this account because I have not logged on my old account in a while.I have no way of finding the old e-mail as of now, is it too late?
Logging in with your BasilID had to be disabled a second time for security reasons. I don't think it'll be enabled again. On the login page, you'll see a link saying "Forgot your email?" If you click that you'll be presented with a contact form which you can fill out and submit to MrBasil. He'll then contact you back and help you get access to your old BasilID back.

No trouble logging in for me.
Thankfully, I've been using the same email for stuff like this for most of my life.
@pavchka, If you remembered me..."bragging" about the Shade thing in this website, it's the same thing this time, but for Cygnus Knights.
Like we can't pick Cygnus Knights as our players when we add one, new Cygnus Knights thread will never appear in the front page (I meant I understand that it used to be a level 120 class and act as a Blessing mule in the past but it's really different now since so much changes had occurred)...
Maybe I'll get suspended this time.
Edit : Also why our basil name become all lowercase now?
MrBasil has acknowledged that CKs can't be added and he'll get to it eventually. I think he's going to update Basil's engine first (which will probably include fixing a ton of bugs) and then fix the CKs and hopefully Legends as well. o.o

No clue about the lowercase thing. It's been like that for a while now. You're the second user to point it out to me.

too intrusive, nowadays i only use a personal email and the corporation one, not gonna be creating a whole new email just for lulzwebsites, i'm too old for this.
I'll save the things i have here and let it die i guess, it was a good hmmm 7 years? yeah probably. Time to let go.

Can we at least have the little person icon in the top corner continue to be there for logging in? It saves a step.
@mrbasil: Suggestion!

Since we're going to be changing our login to email, then I suggest changing our "Basil ID" to "Display Name" and add it to the setting so we can freely change our "Display name"

I suppose that much should be fine...
then we would need some sort of tagging system like a steam id

Could I just ask what the biggest reason for this is?

@charlieaq There have been a -lot- of phishing and keylogger attacks over the years. One of the more notable from not long ago was "Click this link for nude pictures of my ex-girlfriend.exe".
(And of course, no one fell for that... right...? )

@raiden All you can do is all you can do. Nothing is perfect and this makes it a little more difficult for the bad guys.
Plus, it's unlikely you'd post both your e-mail address -and- your BasilID on some unrelated website, so unless your BasilID is prominently all over your e-mail account it wouldn't even be evident to a hacker that you had a Basilmarket account. Plus it's unlikely any of them would care, when they're more likely in your e-mail to steal your bank account or credit card info.
People actually bother hacking basil accounts?

Wat. LOL
Actually, yes. Over the years we've encountered stolen accounts that were used for advertising hacking sites, spreading malware, phishing, posting adult links and harassment and that's not all of it. All you have to do in order for that to happen to you is have bad security and optionally piss off the wrong person.

@Raiden: Good point. I'll mull that one over and get back to you tomorrow.

As for your second question: they'll probably end up having to fill out the contact form and provide a screenshot of their characters. So there will be a way, but it'll take more time.

I saw the email I had when I made this account and immediately changed it..
Exactly.
I get the idea behind it, but don't email services suffer from the same thing?

I guess it makes hacking a specific person on Basil harder, but tons of people (in general) give out their email on websites and for contact info, which is basically giving out their login ID since you use it to sign in to gmail/hotmail.

Once Basil ID login is disabled, will people who haven't logged in in months/years & didn't confirm their email still be able get into their accounts?
Probably cause it was easier to hack into other people's accounts since you already know their username so you just need to found out their password.

or change it back to the old system. Why would you even change it in the first place? you trying to make basil more dead?
Probably cause it was easier to hack into other people's accounts since you already know their username so you just need to found out their password.
