2020 Summer Olympics city being picked on Saturday
So, which city do you all think should host the 2020 Summer Olympics?
It's being officially decided on Saturday.
But for those of you who don't know, the competitors are:
-Istanbul, Turkey: Middle East, less safe due to protests, but would be the first predominantly Muslim country to ever host the Olympic Games, and might promote unity if selected.
-Tokyo, Japan: Safest in both literal and economic points of view, but people are concerned about radiation there. Government "claims" it's not a problem.
-Madrid, Spain: Lowest budget out of the three countries, and a lot of famous athlete support. However, there is a 27% unemployment rate in Madrid.
Which city deserves it? And which city do you guys think will win? It's pretty interesting in my opinion.

Seems like nobody's saying Istanbul o.o
@byebunny7
I know right?
If it were not for 2011, it would hve been the clear winner. This has been confirmd lol.
@Deletive
Yes.
they said they would put all venues within 8km of each other.
Pretty good imo.
@NinjaOfTennis: It used to be that, hasn't been that way for last couple Olympics though.
Tokyo, because none of those other countries can take the economic hit.
I want it to be in Tokyo personally too.
However, cities that host the Olympics actually tend to have a large economic boost.
Due to Olympics, they usually try to clean up the city more nicely, and improve transportation/technology/things of the future kind of stuff.
@2005chuy: But Bloomers are outlawed
Doesn't matter.
Tokyo, because none of those other countries can take the economic hit.
I would say Madrid
well ill just post this for the Istanbul option http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsQrKZcYtqg
really though the whole Olympic games are nothing but a waste of money and never show profits when it comes to how much is spent. They should just have it ran through the same cities or keep it in one.
Both Japan and Spain have hosted it before. And Turkey has 7 years to fix internal issues.
So my preference would be: Istanbul, Tokyo then Madrid.
The protests in Istanbul and the unemployment in Madrid will make those cities unattractive to tourists.
I'd honestly say Tokyo. Japan is a strong economic power, and the infrastructure there is rather well developed. Not to mention that they hosted the 1964 Summer Olympics too, so they have the experience.
Madrid broz.
Lol, what a joke.
More radiation for everyone.
If you've been to Tokyo, it's pretty obvious that absolutely nothing has changed lol
It's like 100 miles away from that nuclear plant.
Lol, what a joke.
More radiation for everyone.
Well I'm talking about economic stability. Plus I highly doubt they'll leave the radiation alone by 2020 anyways and Tokyo is nowhere near the Tohoku region.
Istanbul or Madrid.
loltokyo
Tokyo because it is more stable.
Lol, what a joke.
More radiation for everyone.
tokyo sucks. i say shanghai 2020.
this. Remember the ra*e of nanking, unit 731, and the three alls policy (kill all, burn all, loot all)?
Evil japanese don't deserve it.
tokyo sucks. i say shanghai 2020.
Tokyo, if only for the pretty logo.
Lol, seems like nobody wants it to be at Istanbul.
Nobody wants world peace? jkjk
Spain
i'd say tokyo, because it's pretty much popular city to host for olympics in asia
The radiation in Japan is actually hitting them pretty hard. If it wasn't for that, I'd say Japan.
Tokyo, Japan because you said it's safest in both literal and economic point of view, also I don't think radiation is a problem. It's all over the place anyways.
