There are always the good and bads of every community, but ignorance and self-absorbency are pretty prominent in the community. But like I said, there are many nice and helpful members in the community as well, it's just that they're in a smaller proportion to that of these 'trolls'.
I don't think it's THAT bad... It feels like one person stated that basil was full of trolls and idiots, and somehow that opinion snowballed and now everybody is riding along on it.
There aren't really any actual trolls, who try purposely to piss people off by throwing insults. There are the pseudo trolls who just say unhelpful and sometimes funny things, but aren't all that bad. There are the really smart people who like to fart out big rainbows of vocabulary. Every thread you'll get maybe one guy who's a real ignorant son of a brick.
Mostly it's just people you don't get along with perfectly but aren't so bad.

Except for the occasional multi-account freak or the person who likes to make themselves feel better about their own lives by keeping a two year old photo of myself. I have to say that most here are pretty chill.

95% of the community sucks and is filled with a bunch of rude, anti-social, angsty 15 year old males that think they're different from society because they watch anime and listen to "underground" music and hate on basically everything. You're all a bunch of asshats. Though, the remainder 5% are pretty awesome people, that I also have on stuff like Skype and FB.
@Darkwizzie: True. But other areas of the internet (such as Yahoo news for an example), have much more lighthearted trolling, and usually aren't as much of jerks as a lot of basilers seem to be.
Though there are a good amount of nice basilers out there.
Eventually, you come to the realization that it's pretty much the same topics being discussed over and over again, and that nothing else really happens unless you want to make a point. How much fun you can have then depends on the rest of the active community... and unfortunately for basil, there are [b]a lot[/b] of attention craving fledglings who couldn't care less about making this a better place.

LOL who voted for the first option? o.o Well, certain individuals are mean-spirited and haven't quite figured out that the internet doesn't really matter. And then, there are really cool people that I miss from the old era. I think we all go through a similar journey in our Basil lives. I've enjoyed mine.

stupid idiot kids that thinks that they are always right and no matter what, they always need to start an argument over something or someone. Not only that, even if something said by someone is not aimed at basil-person-A, Basil-person-A will get offended and attack.

I don't bother with basil most of the time these days.
I just try to make close friends with whoever I know.
