Hello Basilers,
There's no way we can deny it; many people are losing their accounts, more than usual.
People reason it has to do with the MapleStory Facebook game. People have filled in the questions I posted and so many people have been playing fine without having been hacked that that seems unlikely.
A few people mentioned a data leak on Sleepywood. In that case if your Sleepywood login info is the same as your MapleStory login info that would be the way you got hacked.
Other people believe Basil Market is the source for the data leak and that people who have the same Basil login info as their MapleStory info etc.
Other people believe the hacked people have visited websites that contained keyloggers or viruses.
[b]Dungeon Fighter Online[/b] accounts are also being hacked. Check out Nexon's forums; the DFO forums are full of hacking threads. It seems this problem does not revolve around MapleStory, but around Nexon.
Below I edited in some questions you can answer. That'll give us some more information to ponder. Asking whether a user's Basil Market info or Sleepywood info is the same as their MapleStory info violates rule #9 to some extent, so that will not be part of the questions.
This official thread is meant to stop the spam in especially the General section. People are making too many threads about it, causing a panic on the forums. If we stick to this thread we'll contain the information and rumours.
Post your stories, solutions and suspicions here! This will also be the only thread in which you may mention the names of the notorious hackers. In every other thread that is a suspendable violation.

PS: Several users have been receiving messages from a user claiming to be Ecko and VPM$. That user was an impersonator making use of the situation. His account has been removed.

I recently got banned two days after i started the FB game...
And I don't hack or anything, Has this happened to anyone else? or is this just random bad luck on my end?

Surprisingly after hearing about this commotion I haven't been hacked. I tried stupidly(idk if that's a real word, too lazy to look up) putting my info into the MSA promotion, but nothing happened. Either way, I was planning to start a fresh, new account anyways.

The oddest thing though... I DID NOT give out my Acc/Pass/Pin to anyone and I somehow got hacked.

Sorry, but you're wrong. Unless they have access to the email linked to the Nexon account, obtaining the PIC will be difficult. Pressing the PIN/PIC button sends a confirmation to your email account, asking whether you approve of the action or not.

Sadly to say, I saw a few people last night in FM, dropping their stuff. They were most likely the hackers on people's accounts.
Hmm... People from DFO are getting hacked too... I guess that means Nexon itself is being breached which means we're all screwed. ~jk~ But seriously Nexon should kick it up a notch with security because I don't know if they noticed but all emails/mmorpgs/etc. are using HTTPS while Nexon's still using HTTP. I'm not surprised that this happened considering how bad their security is.

uhhh... wrong. my pic stayed the same, if it changed i would have gotten an email (I can check all my emails using my blackberry, I don't even log into websites to check anymore. Same with fb).

When you click reset PIN or PIC you have to log onto your email and click on a link. Then it'll allow you to reset your PIN

-My 2nd main account was hacked on Sunday (August 21) around 11PM EST Last log in was on August 18th.
- No one knew my account user name nor password
- Person took some of my items and all my mesos, dropped useless items such as Maple Weapons, Potions, Mastery Books & scrolls in Ch 11 Fm. Store was created in Ch 11 Fm 1 with my 8 50% 2handed pink scrolls, 25int robe, Witch Chair, Hospital chair, DualBlade Chair & Red chair, Evolution Ring 17 etc.

1. Have you been hacked? I only got hacked once back in 2009, so yes for back then (it was on my account, SmashDragoon which I still have, phew). For now, I never got hacked and I'm being safe by now linking my FaceBook and maple account together.
2. Did you play the Facebook game? I only played the MSA but didn't link my account. Even from the start form seeing it, I didn't have a good feeling with trusting it.

This account was created during winter break last year (So mid December 2010) if there is any relevance And I've never changed my pword either.

seriously... answering most of these is just one more little crumb that could help a would-be hacker.
Extremely careful people keep getting hacked. This is ridiculous.

We've also deduced from the events as they unfolded that the person that hacked him was from the west coast most likely and was young enough that they had to get off the computer, most likely being told to go to bed or something for the night, unable to stay on the account. In a panic they set up a shop, thinking they would have time to get back on the account and strip the rest of it the next day. We're thinking someone in the ages of 15-16 or probably younger, definitely living with their parents, having a set bedtime and having to get off the computer, based on events, the time things took place, and logic.

People who got hacked either went to phishing sites or downloaded some hacks that keylogged them, etc and don't want to admit it because they are ashamed and FB couldn't of gotten you hacked otherwise your FB would of been hacked too
