@AllDayErryDay: Ahhh, exploration level is really easy to level now, and getting to level 50-60 is actually the average for newer players haha. interesting perspective, yeah the game is completely different now, in almost every way it seems

@paying: You have no clue... The best way I can put it- You basically leveled your character to about level 30-40 (usually this was the cutoff, it was a bit much after this) or some crazier people got to character level 50-60. Once you hit the character level you're capping at, you did Iria exploration (which was fun, but extremely slow mind you), up to about Explorer level 15-20 or 30. So the total amount of AP you'd get for being the youngest age possible, character levels, and E.levels was an average of maybe 60-90 if you were crazy. More believably, you'd gain about 50-60.

There was nothing else for you. That was the amount of character levels and AP you were more or less limited to per week. Not to mention, there weren't "Destiny" cards, training exp potions, or any kind of methods to ease the way you played the game back then. It was particularly brutal on skill training.

So yeah, when I hear total level 5100... I'm thinking like, years and years of progress. I mean, me playing for a year and a half or two, sort of regularly, was good enough to put me at total level 600... but that's the best I could get.

@AllDayErryDay: Well they have content that eases the leveling process somewhat -- I also have high end equips, but utilizing 6 day rebirths since the day I was no longer eligible for free daily rebirths (total level 300) I was able to achieve this. I'm capable of getting 120-150 current level per week, but it was around 60-80 when I first started and was under total level 1k. A (now) buddy of mine has the same amount of rebirths as me, but had connections in the game before he even made a character and received high end content "leech" and has only 3 more rebirths than me, but a thousand more levels. If you are curious I've been playing since ~October 2013. I'm unfamiliar with what the game was like in the past except based on stories of players I associate with from back around that time, and from what they have told me, the leveling process was definitely a LOT slower

@paying: Interesting... If you're 'new' and your total level is around 5100, then I'm impressed at how they've changed the speed of things.

I mean, I quit before Demi-God was released, so I know about most changes before Nuadha, and before Shakespeare. It's nuts, because back when I started... anybody above level 1000 was considered pretty amazing, and it was a pretty big chore to do. Even with 1 week rebirths, it would take people quite a few months to get from 1-1000.

@AllDayErryDay: My total level is 5100. As far as the pay to advance content goes, I believe all of that was removed, including strictly paid rebirths (if this was even a thing) and having to pay to use additional item bags. The thing everyone is complaining about in terms of ninja is giants will actually be the best race to play them, and elves will be the worst. Of course, humans are in the middle as usual

@paying: Yeah. I'm from uhh... Well, to be quite honest, I played when the game just came out of Beta. It was noticeably lacking in content, and when they started bringing content, it really rubbed people the wrong way, since it cost money to actually access it. Then I came back around the time Iria was announced, and at the time Elves and Giants were more gimmicky than anything. I'm pretty sure they were actually considered bad for a long, long time. So yeah, it's a bit wild to hear that they're actually... viable.

What's your total level so far?

@AllDayErryDay: Indeed. Giants are the best at melee and they evidently improved their character models (I'm a relatively new player, you seem like a relatively old player, so yeah). Giants also excel at multiple other skillsets. There's quite a few. Elves are slightly lacking in population but the hardcore ones that pursue archery to its fullest extent are extremely good

@AllDayErryDay: Oh I see what you mean now, yes. You are correct. It still does work like that for melee. Ninja does use physical based attacks, and it also has a stealth function. No dodge tactics though. The difference with your second paragraph though is mages typically can't one shot entire rooms unless extremely powerful (depends on the content) and a lot of late game mobs have pinging for all types of combat besides melee, which varies for each mob. As for bow users having AR, that only applies to humans

@paying: Well, any class with projectiles. The reason why, is because of how Mabinogi combat works, and it's why almost every melee based class will remain a bit gimped in comparison.

Melee classes that use physical based skills, typically require you to play a very rock-paper-scissors kind of game with an enemy. Turn-based combat, is what it's trying to imitate. I haven't played for ages, but I'm sure everything still works the same. The reason why this sucks when compared to ranged classes, is because after a knock-back, most enemies will immediately charge you. This means you need to have some skill off cooldown, that has an immediate activation. With how skills work in this game, it's difficult to actually fight enemies without taking large amounts of damage. You are forced to wind up certain skills, you have to appropriately determine enemy AI so that you don't get countered/smashed/defended on, and as far as I know, there's not any solid options to disengage yourself from a fight.

Ranged, however, doesn't need to worry about basically any of that. Mages just throw out ridiculously strong spells that either one-hit KO rooms entirely, or deal enough damage to where they don't need to worry about much else than a few single spell casts. Not to mention, certain spells cause stupid effects, or just stagger the living hell out of enemies as they approach. Bow users have AR (I think that's the name) and usually train windmill for clutch situations. Not to mention other really, really good skills that give them flexibility. So you see what I'm saying. Ranged classes typically have the benefit of kiting, while also having skills that appropriately deal with crap.

If Ninja uses physical, melee based attacks, I could see them implementing stealth, or dodge tactics actually. As a ranged, it'd still be good.
My thoughts? After a while, you can have (theoretically) every skill maxed in the game anyway.

Otherwise, Mabinogi tends to favor ranged combat over melee as a general rule. I haven't played for ages, but it never seemed to change that. If the class is more Kunai/Throwing weapon based (which it seems to be) it'll probably be amazing. If not, then it'll be another melee class that requires more skill and thought than charging and unleashing a spell on enemies.
What do you mean by ranged combat? I suppose guns and magic are sort of ranged, but actual ranged combat is (sadly) only truly reaches its potential up close. I am also hoping it is more ranged as well. Preferably mid range, as this is what I seek in every game. From my current perspective it seems to be like a trapping style class, but I can't make a true decision on my thoughts until I see some actual gameplay videos
