I was breeding random parents with a Japanese Ditto. Never in a million years would I have expected this to happen.
My 9th shiny.
Still see no point in shinies. You will never use them. Ever.
You spend tons and tons of hours just to find them and they just sit in your PC Boxes forever.

It's like this:
"Yay! I found/hatched a shiny Beldum!"
-checks the Nature-
"Timid? Sh--!"
-checks IVs-
"Wow not 31 IVs in any stats and my best is HP"

Seriously, you're never going to use that thing.
The day someone actually finds/hatches a useful shiny, is the day pigs fly (if they aren't already). There are so many ways to "create" pokemon now though that if anyone is going to try and show me one, it's probably fake. I know of a few myself and one in particular says they are "working really hard for X and Y compatibility, and should be here soon."

But hey, congrats anyway on the 9th shiny pokemon.
I hatched myself a shiny greninja with perfect IVs, nature and has protean. Also have a shiny gengar with perfect nature and IVs. It can be done, just needs the right dedication, or in my case, trading for good breeding parents and wishing for the best

My first shiny was a Caterpie in Viridian Forest

Man that became one sexy Butterfree.

Then in HeartGold I come across shiny mareep and I was like WOAH. HOLY CRAP. WOAH.

My Shiny Ampharos was a PINK KILLER MACHINE OF ELECTRIC DOOM.

I will never forget my very first and only shiny pokemon. Togepi in black 2... I trained it all the way to togetic then togekiss just because it was shiny. Not until later did i learn that togekiss was the best pokemon in the game.

@RockGod1: i personally would only want a shiny of a few of my favorite pokemon but people go crazy for "rare things" just like ppl paying a 150$ for some subpar headphones i just dont understand it
@BBD: IVs aren't everything. It still needs a good nature too. No one in their right mind will ever use a pokemon that has a bad nature or even a nature that doesnt boost the stat the pokemon needs.

C'mon. Hatching/finding a shiny with 31 IVs (in 3-5 stats like you said), AND having the Nature the pokemon needs? Lets also not forget about Abilities here. Then you better hope it learns the right Egg Moves you want.

All that for a differently colored pokemon. No extra stats or anything.

My girlfriend is obsessed with it too, and I just don't get it. She was trying to find a specifc Eevee in one of my Friend Safaris. A female Eevee with Anticipation (so she could pass the hidden ability down through breeding). While searching for awhile, she ran into a shiny Dunsparce. She wasn't really paying attention to it since it didn't make the Eevee cry sound (she was also talking to me at the same time so she would only look down at the screen when she heard the Eevee sound). She looked down to hit "Run Away" and noticed it was shiny right after she clicked it. She quickly looked at me and said "oh my God, Pat! I'm sorry. I ran away from a shiny Dunsparce!" I was like o_O I don't care.... 1, it's Dunsparce. 2, shinies don't give boosted stats. 3, it probably had a bad nature. 4, shiny Dunsparce is even uglier than normal Dunsparce.
nature isnt a problem anymore since everstone passes the nature 100% each time using destiny knot helps with getting better iv's so ur almost always given atleast 2-3iv stats

I was hoard battling Bellsprouts for att EV training and I stumbled across a hoard of Scorupis, 1 of which was shiny. Took me like 10 minutes to decide if I wanted to waste 20 EV (Hoard battling is x5, Pokerus is x2, and the Power item is x2) in order to get the shiny Scorupi >:

It's actually funny; in gold and silver the only way for a Pokemon to be a shiny it had to have higher IV and Ev and a nature to correspond to it.
Maybe they should go back to the old ways.

I used to play pokemon all the time and I never found a single shiny from gameplay, training, farming, hatching or etc.
I only own one from a friend and it's a bidoof of all things ._.

Going to agree with you that Shinies are pointless.
But there is a way to make a useful one, so I don't want to say a useful shiny is fake.
If you get an international ditto with 31IVs (preferable with three to five IVs) and give it destiny knot, there is a higher chance for a amazing shining Pokemon.

In Platinum version, I was able to manage a shiny Hippopotas with 31IVs in Def and Sp.Def.
Since I use the power items + international Hippowdon to bread it.
I didn't care if it was shiny or not but it just happened to be one.
