My other computer "committed suicide." My brother was sort of raging over Combat Arms because I lagged him too much.. then the screen just froze, the computer froze, so my brother pulled the plug out after around 7 minutes. After that, it didn't boot. Usually when the power is on, it does a practice bootup to ensure it's okay, but that did not happen. -Strangely, this happened to my DS too- Is there any way to fix this? It's made by some barely-known company called Lenovo and it's a Windows Xp. I don't wanna fight with him over my Dad's computer, and we don't have the money to buy a new one, nor the hacking skills to take over my Dad's Vista laptop.

Something is blocking some programs ..abilities to access the net. Programs included are Chrome and now Maple. Any attempt to access with net with these programs is a failure and there are no specific errors given except for "Cannot access the net" or "Web address may be wrong" or "Firewall may be blocking". Clearly what I am using to make this thread aka Firefox is able to connect to the net just fine. I don't see what's making some programs go haywire. I have already attempted to reinstall Chrome but to no avail several times. This computer has no firewalls, and the antivirus used is called Avira Personal which I have no clue about using except for scans. Almost forgot to mention that this computer uses Windo

What kind of virus caused this? Hopefully this will give you a better idea of my issue. < Firefox only works because it's stuck at version 6. That's how long ago this started. If anything manages to update, it will no longer connect to the internet. Is it worthy enough a reason to reformat? This is what came up when I clicked "Diagnose connection problems." It only affects this computer.

I may have the worst internet in the US The service I use belongs to AT&T and it is absolutely horrible. They took up 3 weeks to "upgrade their service" around my neighborhood, but I have been disconnecting much more often. It happens for sometimes 4 hours at a time, nothing but disconnecting. It happens every time I log on the computer for the first time and every night starting at around 8pm until beyond 1am. I have no idea what the problem is, and it happened ever since Dad bought AT&T service 5 years ago. Every time he notices the d/cing, he blames it on me for the reason of "Oh, a virus." -He's one of those stubborn Asian parents who are always clouded in the head- Also, the upgrades didn't do much except fo

Will reformatting this computer fix this persistent problem? A looong time ago I made a thread about a problem with the computer I'm using. This computer, even while connected to the internet (Checked the connection many times, says it has no problem), doesn't allow anything to access the internet. No browser other than Firefox (which can't update, so it's heavily outdated) can access the internet and programs that need the internet to work, such as MalwareBytes, uTorrent, Java, Flash, and such cannot work nor update. The only other program that works is Livestream, which, thank goodness, works because the other computer I have is too outdated to let any audio play during a broadcast. I have no idea what's causing it, and good grief, it get

Confusion with a Sd adapter I'm trying to use a SD adapter for uploading pictures from a MSD card. However, when I put it in the right slot, the computer freezes every time I try to access it until I pull it out. It works when I put the adapter into an adapter with a USB on one end. When I insert another SD card that isn't an adapter, I can access the files just fine. Here's a drawing if this confused you too. The adapter doesn't work when inserted into the same slots for SD cards on other computers but still works with the adapter with the USB end. Why is this happening?
