Honestly, I have no clue what is going on. The character looks like Evan, but what the hell are they doing fighting the Black Mage? Just the two of them are no match against him. If this was before they were all frozen, where are the other heroes? If I recall, the story goes that the 5 heroes defeated the Black Mage [i]together[/i], and at the last moment before his defeat, the Black Mage froze them all.

I would put money on a bet that after all heroes are released, a Black Mage boss will be released behind the middle ToT door. Maybe only heroes can participate?

Aran was injured and sent to a medical tent when this fight occurred.
Techinally Mercedes is like 100+ years older than Evan. Plus Evan is only a child, I only see her as a mother/mentor figure to him.
