My prediction is league of legends will fall in 3 years

Maybe even less than that, I'm already seeing people quit left and right. On top of that Riot isn't satisfying the players any more, the game has gotten so toxic it'll implode on it'self. With Youtube buying twitch tv, we all know they're gonna screw it up eventually, just give them some time. With this huge gaping hole in the MOBA community, where will they all go? drum role plz?...... Heroes of the storm! If Blizzards decides to make this game Free to play, it will be the downfall of riot games. Unless... they do something huge that will keep their players in check. Now listen I'm not a huge Blizzard fan but from what I've read and seen, the client looks god damn amazing. Voice chat, live stream, unlockable skins that doesn't require money and much more.

Will Blizzard take back the crown of being the number one gaming company for pc and destroy Riot games? Or does Riot have a plan up their sleeves? tick tock Riot, E-sports is getting boring. The client is a mess, the skins are garbage and you're keeping secrets about champion changes.... Only time will tell.... The MOBA community holds the power with their wallets.

I played back in season 1 where no one played it cos dota and HoN were the cool games to play and LoL was for casual scrubs. I quit at the end of s2 and starting s3, everyone played it and still play it at uni where it's become socially acceptable. All these computers taken up by one LoL team in a normal 5vs5. There's even cosplay of LoL champs done by good looking girls. I've somewhat moved on to Smite (only play it at uni, otherwise don't play anything), and everyone's like 'is that GW2, is that WoW'?

TBH that DC universe MOBA seems pretty interesting but I wouldn't bother with Heart of the Storm.

The game is free-to-play, popular, and fully PvP orientated with emphasis on teamwork. It's a recipe for disaster which has brewed up a godawful community.

Competitive games tend to stick around once they've established a firm player base. There are STILL Quake tournaments being held.
Maybe 4 years ago Rune scape had the title but currently it's WoW at 8.3mill Subs, Runes cape is at 600k active users of this year. Blizzard did admit to losing a lot of subs, but they'll get them back. With more free to play games, heart stone was just a mini-game to them and that was a huge pay off. DOTA wasn't their only chance at beating league, look where DOTA is now. Blizzard had their reasons for not wanting to team up with DOTA, they think didn't starcraft would be number one forever but they had more faith in it than DOTA. They can keep paying players and increasing the grand prize with all of these benefits but they'll never catch up to league's player base.
How can you say HoTS is a simplified version of league? Also remember this game is just in BETA and the amount of attention it's getting is unreal. HoTS is more... I don't want to say harder but more different in a good way.

Now skins. If you honestly say season 4 skins is better than season 3 than you're in a denial. Why would they bring out two dragonslayer skins, that no one asked for? Riot pretty much said they're done with the lores when they ended the journal of justice. Putting no effort into lores any more, made the champions back ground weak. I don't want to fill in the blanks myself, I want to read a story or at least animate it. Hey everyone night hunter rengar was released! oh no one cares? Didn't even make it to the front page.... He hasn't had a skin since his release and they couldn't even added special taunts or voice overs? oh and his release sucks. The rumble skins was trash too, why does rumble get the 1850 skin? It's wasn't worth the money and nearly not enough players brought it. The only skin I can respect is popstar ahri cause it was actually based of a famous person so the Koreans went nuts.

The thing was innovation is it can't stop nor be put on hold. You claim league itself was an innovation all on it's own, that maybe true but the hype is dead. It's slowing down. Actually they didn't even take much key elements from DOTA other than the gameplay, least DOTA's client works, you never hear about bug splats after every patch and riot doesn't like 3rd party voice chats. Waiting to use my curse voice... banned. if they could they would probably ban them all but they actually want to keep their players. I don't want to watch the lcs on my web browser, it should be hosted on my client... oh someone made a custom client that had all that... banned.

The thing you're forgetting is that there is more to just game play, you have to give your consumers what they want and then some. That's why the ps4 did so well, I got to play my games and then some, share, stream, etc. Riot needs more modes K fine the players didn't like the 1v1 and 2v2 map but they should of kept URF and all for one. They took it away and wonder why, some bs excuse of wanting to perfect it? okay riot sure.

My counter argument to your counter argument is, Riot is messing with the unseen threat and it's themselves.
Runescape still holds the title for overall. Blizzard will never have as many subscribers as they did for WoW, just like Runescape won't get back their subscribers. Hearthstone is meant to be more than just a mini-game. If they really consider it to just be a simple side project, they're missing a huge opportunity with what they have so far. If they introduce balance changes, expansion packs, and updates like the campaign mode in a timely manner, they'll quickly become the most popular online card game. Anyways, back to DOTA. Blizzard had their reasons for not teaming up with DOTA. Very, very stupid reasons. Ignorance, arrogance, and poor business decisions. You would think that a company such as Blizzard would appreciate the team more for creating the most popular mod ever on one of their own games. Instead, they laughed them out the door. Valve, a company which knows the value of mods and knew the value of DOTA, immediately approached them. DOTA 2 came out and is currently the only game which can compete on an equal scale with League. Blizzard realized this, and immediately went to work on jumping on the bandwagon when the bandwagon was already long overcrowded.

HoTS has no items, no gold, no last hits, games are much shorter, and overall there isn't anything special about HoTS except the champions. Of course it gets a lot of attention with the amount of advertising and how popular Blizzard is. It's nothing special though.

Every champion has plenty of lore behind it. Look at the Freljord lore they created for ARAM, a fan-made game type. Braum's lore, which I highly doubt took little to no effort to create. The lore is still fresh and heavily focused on, even if they don't write journals of justice anymore. They leave the rest of the world they built up to the imagination, which is perfectly fine.

As for skins, you do realize how not every skin is meant to be a legendary or expensive skin right? Many of the skins are small projects for the champions which lack extra skins since their release, which is why you don't see extra voice overs or fancy effects. The Rumble skin was probably the best thing ever for anyone who was a fan of Gurren Lagann, just like the Popstar Ahri skin was amazing for the kpop fans. If you don't think it's worth the money for a skin, don't buy it. There are plenty of other options available.

The hype isn't dead. Look at the all-stars tournament and the fans for the LCS spring split and the millions of players around the world still playing today. Also I don't understand why you're complaining about the client so much. I've only had a small handful of problems during my time with League, and most of those had nothing to do with the client itself. Curse Voice is perfectly fine. I have never heard of a single person banned for using it or any other 3rd party program that doesn't give an unfair advantage. And why are you complaining about such little things? Goodness, what's the difference between watching the LCS on your client or on Twitch? That's such a silly thing to complain about.

The PS4 isn't doing well at all. They're just doing better than the xbone. What these big company's continue to forget is that gameplay is the key to what gamers want. You can have fancy 1080p HD 60 FPS next-gen graphics or watch sports and Netflix on your xbone, but it will never compare to the feeling of playing an amazing game like League of Legends or going back to enjoy one of your old favorite games. Riot is bringing back URF and taking time to polish it up. Otherwise people will be complaining about all the bugs it has and how overpowered one champion is even though the game mode was never meant to be balanced when it was first released. Riot can't make everyone happy.

I don't understand what you mean about Riot being a threat to themselves. Blizzard isn't really a threat to Riot either.
Actually Runescape holds the title of the most popular MMO. WoW is dying and they've lost several million subscribers over the past year alone. Hearthstone is fun though needs a lot of balancing at the moment. Though I don't see how any of that has to do with Riot losing out to Blizzard. DOTA was their one chance of beating League of Legends and they laughed the DOTA team out the door because they were overconfident Starcraft would always be #1. 2 years after League comes out, it becomes the most popular esports game in the world. The only reason Blizzard is making a MOBA is because of how successful League of Legends and DOTA 2 have turned out. Blizzard has been playing catchup ever since. HoTS is heavily simplified and has nothing special going for it except for the characters.

Look at all the other awesome skins out there then. Dragonslayer Braum looks amazing with his Runescape-like dragonfire shield. Super Galaxy Rumble with the obvious reference to Gurren Lagann and great work done to it. Popstar Ahri for the kpop and international fans and the Ahri fans in general. Look at how much praise those skins have gotten. The people who work on the skins aren't even affiliated with the people focusing on the esports stuff in the first place. Also the patch notes are all listed on the front page of their website every time they update. What did they leave out?

For innovation, League of Legends itself was innovative. Taking key elements from the original DOTA and combining it with lore, unique champions, and plenty of time and effort from the team, they were the ones who made the MOBA genre what it is today. As for not adding new clients, voice chat, and live streaming, you can easily do some of those things yourself. Voice chat has ventrilo, teamspeak, etc. Live streaming has Xsplit, Elgato, etc. Twitch stream can be found here. All of these things are there.

Blizzard has added a few extra things sure, though most of them aren't relevant to the core gameplay mechanics which they should be focusing on instead. In fact, they've taken away a lot of elements from their MOBA and made it very simplistic compared to others. There won't be nearly as many competitive players in HoTS because of this. Riot has the largest competitive scene in the world, and is nearly as popular as modern day sporting events. What do you want to see from Riot anyways? I'm curious to know.

Magma Chamber was scrapped because not enough people were playing it. The 1v1 and 2v2 game modes were to test how many people liked the style and to see whether or not magma chamber would be a good idea. Apparently only 1% of games were on 1v1 and 2v2, so they decided not to release it yet. On April 1st, they released URF mode which got a huge amount of attention and was played during the All-Stars by professional players, and is highly likely to return soon because the community asked for it so much.

My counter argument is that Blizzard wants everything Riot has, but won't get it after poor business decisions and a lack of innovation.
Least from what i've seen so far, Blizzard already has all those things that the players want. Basing popular opinion on LoL forums is lulzy. Come on, that's where all the high schoolers go to complain when their parents ground them and they can't play LoL for a week.

Kinda doubt it lol Most of the complaints I read about the game are super dumb and Riot has given me amazing customer support and I like how the game developers and others interact with the community. From what I've read, they have also hired former Blizzard employees.

Anyway, they have been updating the game, releasing exciting new skins and the focus on Esports may have lost them more hardcore, gameplay oriented but relatively low-skill players, but it has definitely captured the attention of pretty much everyone else. Teams are becoming a bigger deal, the fantasy league was a great move to extend the appeal of LoL beyond just a game, so for every player like OP they lose, they obtain and retain even more. They need to work on how relegation works but otherwise, I can see LOL going strong for at least another 5 years in some way or form.

LoL is one of the biggest games and will continue to be one of the best, these are what you call hiccups in a game to make you think its not playable. You may be bored read shiye get discouraged to play but the truth is league of legends is a game where u have at least one freind playing it and as long as that happends u will continue to play, maybe not daily but will happend. Season 4 esports is miniscule to what will happend in season 5 it will grow so much larger. YouTube twitch has no matter in play of the game.

There's something about league's graphics that I find appealing. I wouldn't play any other moba just because they don't have a good feel to it. The champs & minions and stuff in league feel more unique so it just feels better to play that game. Watchin that heros of the storm game it looks just like Dota and it looks boring.

If you're plat 5 I'm positive you're not facing people over and over again. Occasionally you'll run into the same person but that's after many games unless you reque immediately, the player base in division 5 of anything is always largest (elo boosted people , players stuck at 0 lp, division 1 players with high mmr etc) You only really face the same person over and over in plat 1+. As for league dying I don't see that happening any time soon, perhaps it will decrease slightly because at the moment it's very hyped but there's too much player base and new content (Champions, skins, map/champion reworks etc) it's so successful because things are constantly changing and new things are being introduced.

It should also be mention that Riot places a lot of emphasis on its gaming community, constantly acknowledging them, therefore people believe their input is important and constantly give it. It may not change as fast as they request it to but it does change eventually and the community recognizes the change and are pleased so as long as you please people they will stick around, it's what nexon doesn't understand.

Season 3 was their highest point, this will now be leagues downfall.

6 of my cousins used to be LoL freaks since like 2011, i didnt really get into it, i preferred MS at the time
every weekend they would get together at one of their houses and hook up 4 PC and use 2 laptops and they would just grind on LoL, one summer one of them actually didnt even shower for 2 weeks and got sick cus all they ate was gummy worms and fast food

recently i went to go see godzilla with one of them and asked if they still binged on LoL and he said not really, in fact they hardly even get togehter but if they do, they either play heartstone, smite, or just get out and play some 3v3 Basketball

New players are coming in but honestly higher elo games, I'm facing the same people over and over, like I'm just plat 5 where the hell everyone? A few people on buddies list said their good byes, I've check the forums and people are complaining every day. It's non- stop mayhem.

wait but i thought they were the same game? http://youtu.be/Mnh2t5m59sQ

ot: i can see this game being only dropping in popularity at the rate the game is going. i'm not even sure what they can do to save themselves
instead of releasing MORE champs i think they need to fix what they already have and make skins for champs that haven't had one in so long
slow down champ production and increase slating champs for vu

@evyxx Me too, I've grown bored of the game already. In one year I got to plat 5, and now I'm like what's the point in solo queue. I'll never make it far unless I'm in a ranked 5's.
