By 2016 Maplestory will be shutdown

(My prediction) For those who haven't figured it out already....

With KMST shutdown, this means nexon is already slowing down on the updates. They're planning the success of MS2, wanting players to migrate over. Once they've reached their ideal player base; the maplestory we know and love will be shutdown, it'll start with MapleSea then Maple-EUR (they don't even have a level 230 player yet). Nexon claims that MS and Ms2 will have different teams and different servers but which game will nexon sink their money into? if Ms2 is successful. Nexon won't keep both games afloat, it's going to be one or the other. They are even testing the waters with this spin off game, whatever your opinion of the spin off, it won't matter cause this is the end. If you want to save this game, keep it alive then don't download or register for Ms2 but we all know everyone else will. So I'm calling it now, enjoy maplestory for the next 2 or 3 years.

Start recording videos, start taking screen shots; make a folder called memories cause this is it boys and girls. Make your maplestory2.tv account now so you get a good name cause once maplestory dies, so will basil...
Save this thread, just so you can be reminded of whats to come.

Greeting maplers, we have decided to focus our time and manpower towards maplestory 2; this is good bye but this isn't the end. Join us here at [insert maplestory2 download and Register link here

Despite what you think, MapleStory is still a really big & profitable game. They are making more money these days than they ever did in the pre-BB era. If you think MapleStory was 'alive' back then, it's immortal right now.

Why does this thread keep getting bumped...

I doubt Maple will close for a decent while.
SMT Imagine and Ultima Online survived forever with a ridiculously minuscule dedicated fanbase, which honestly the maple playerbase reminds me of. But that's my two cents.
Granted, it will eventually shutdown, that's just par the course for any online game.

Uh well it's 2016 and Maple is still not dead yet.

i came back to this thread crying uncontrollably. she was right when making this thread. the game was shutdown at the beginning of 2016. it was a very sad few week building up to the closing of every ones favourite game. i cant help but think this thread played a huge role in nexon making their decision to close it down.... i still have not found a game to replace maplestory =(

Nexon won't remove Ms1 when Ms2 is a hit because they still get income from Ms1

If MS1 isn't successful in North America, MS2 isn't going to either.

Speaking of Europe, Nexon America & Europe are going to merge back as "Global" (no, not saying MS is merging, just the log-in/billing/cs services very soon) so if we ever get MS2 it'll be referred to as "Global".

Im sorry but KMST shut down what.
Am I missing something here what is this shutdown you speak of.
Has the game reached its short run shutdown point. Or is it the Long run shutdown point.
Cause unless it has reached either it makes no logical/economical sense for the game to end.
What.
No seriously I havent heard of this news can someone enlighten me.

http://www.southperry.net/showthread.php?t=75512&title=KMST is no more!
according to this they're only shutting down the current test servers temporarily until they can set up newer ones since the current team managing it isn't doing its job well
though someone who can read Korean would be able to tell us exactly what that notice says on top of the OP's post on SP

Seems like they are squeezing out all the juice from us true, but doesn't necessarily imply it's shutting down. It's dead more than ever (also true) but it's something a server merger can fix.
It still makes too much money for them to shut it down. Also, they couldn't force everyone to leave to MS2. I mean, some people spend hundreds on maple per week. They wouldn't be able to come up with anything that could make up for players investing thousands on their character.
If they can convince players to spend a few hundred weekly on Ms2, why not.

If I had the money, I'd buy Maplestory and run the game way better. I'd go to a zoo and hire real monkeys, and they'd run the game way better than the current Maplestory team.

Aren't MS1 and MS2 being managed and financed independently from one another by their respective franchise owners? Forgive me, I'm not interested enough to really research this, but the 2D and 3D game markets are probably treated separately so having both games running simultaneously means a bigger pool of customers, all the while having the franchise owners be responsible for the game's management at no cost to the parent company(Nexon Korea) if I'm getting this right.

The only thing that matters is if this game makes money or not. Dead or not, it's still making money.
Haha, Nexon is making a big mistake MapleStory2 will not be that big in North America the first month it will big popular after that it will die out like all beta's that never make it.
That's my prediction on MapleStory2 for North America unless they make it Global its not gonna have alot of people im not gonna play just from footage im not interested in the game looks like every other 3d game. I play MapleStory because of how detailed characters are and how easy it is to play without needing a PHD.
I half agree with your statement but nexon did offically say Ms2 is going to be a global game with servers that can only be accessed depending on your region, I like maplestory as a whole but 3D games is what players like nowadays. They're even putting Ms2 on steam officially and it's controller friendly, nexon is really putting their best towards this game. I'm personally interested in the outcome and how they're going to slowly phase out maplestory.
It won't die, they earn a lot of money with maplestory if they ever shut it down, means nexon is going to lose hell a lot of money
If Ms2 is successful from a business standpoint they're gonna drain what's left of the game, forcing players to migrate to Ms2 with offers and whatnot. They can charge more nx in Ms2 than in maplestory now cause it's a totally fresh game.
