Hmm, I like your top hat, so maybe change the shoes so that they match a more formal theme? Sadly I'm not much help when it comes to saying which shoes should be the replacement...
bright eyes are always a good choice
something of the color gold/yellow maybe? purple's complimentary color is in that range.
