religion really pisses me off

don't get me wrong, i have no disrespect for religion

but i just hate how people fight because they believe their religion is better than someone elses or like if religion says somethings wrong about something/someone, people are brainwashed into thinking its true

@fradddd:

Yeah, I guess most people have different experience with it. My mother is devoted muslim while my father is christian. They both are pretty respectful
about each other religion but when it comes to me they usually try to pull me to one side. For the most part for me personally, once the topic turns towards
religion, it gets kind of aggressive which is why I have stopped talking/questioning those who ask what religion I am. It usually hurts both sides of the
conversation. I have only had a handful of people try to convert some that made sense others well didn't help their argument. Though like I mentioned
it only comes to be an issue if it's talked about openly. Which is why I mention whenever I talk about religion, "do whatever you want as long as it doesn't
affect others" live and let live right~

@wingless666: Neither I nor any Christian I know has ever actively tried to "convert" someone. Not even the Mormons I know talk about it at all. I don't know why everyone says that people try to shove religion down everyone else's throats. I've really never seen it happen...I guess that doesn't mean it doesn't happen, but it's probably less likely to happen than atheists and agnostics would like to say.
Why is it automatically assumed to be brainwashing just because you believe something? By that logic, everything you believe in life was just because of brainwashing.
Well for the most part, it's what you can prove and what you can't. You can't prove or disprove something as abstract as god which is what most religions are based off. Personally
it makes me cringe when I used to ask that as a teenager and was given the same answer "It's in the bible". Since it is a book made by man, I get pretty skeptical when hearing that.
Though there are a few religions people I have met, that are devoted but are fairly even minded when it comes to religion as a topic. Though being brainwashed isn't necessarily bad
considering that is what culture does to us anyway and like someone above mentioned the only religious people to be truly concerned about are extremists. As annoying as it is to be
asked to convert or go to church or talk to someone about your religious inadequacies, it isn't really something to make a big deal out of.

~text wall as usual~

My personal quote that I created after tons of discussions with atheists.

@Singuy:

Was that the main reason to this great purge?

I would assume it is but then again it is the position I feel best describes
my current stance. Really doesn't matter though since like I said believe
in whatever you want to...

@wingless666:

'do you really see or hear atheist killing people such as religion does... ' Yea it's called the great purge

'agnostic'

You do know that isn't a theological position right?

@Singuy:

Somewhat, there are other factors but do you really see or hear atheist killing people such as religion does...
Rather then hurting a person because of their religious beliefs(usually hypocritical), an athiest wouldn't hurt
someone because of those exact reasons. I'm not saying all religious people are brainwashed(though) when
they commit murder and I am not saying all athiest are not brainwashed. But what I am saying is the ones we
are discussing are usually either delusional for multiple reasons or are using religion as a scapegoat. Personal
opinions aside, faith is based on feelings and we all know what feelings do to people especially when it is added
to groups of people. All in all it doesn't matter as an agnostic person, I couldn't care less what religion or lack of it
you have. Just don't shove it down others throat and follow the golden rules~

So whenever someone of religion kills another, it's because he was brainwashed by religion but if an atheist kills another, it's because of 'normal human reasons'.

To each their own. People don't like to be told what to believe in and at the same time, you're entitled to see things however you please.

the problem isn't religion itself, its the people who misinterpret religion to fit their world views
