It could just be specific notes that make you feel this way. I know that scents with heavy lavender are not only nauseating, but they have like a strangling effect on me. On the other hand, fresh and aquatic scents with some musk and wood notes pretty much feel like walking through waterfall mist on a crisp summer morning by the mountain.
Some cologne and perfume scents are just too strong for me. It feels like small, sharp objects are piercing my nostrils -_-
It's the same with cigarettes, hurts my nose and it makes it hard for me to breathe
Maybe you have a strong sense of smell, or allergic to it. D:
