That New Google Chrome Homepage

I hate it. It's awful. I don't know where the "recently closed tabs" button is. There's two buttons to go to your Apps, and they're both stupidly small. There's a giant-ass search bar taking up the entire page which is completely useless since I could always search things in the URL bar whenever I liked.

Does anyone know a way to change it back to what it originally was? With nothing but the "frequently visited sites" buttons, and the "recently closed tabs" button on the lower right?

Google devs want everyone to use Chrome the way they want it to be used.

I personally hate the omnibox+history+bookmarks+Google logo combo for New Tab as well, but you can't disable instant extended API. The extensions available won't let you have apps+bookmarks and make you choose between one or the other.

EDIT: @above: That only opens up the most recently closed tab. What if I accidentally closed a 5-tab window somehow? What if I want to reopen my window from yesterday?

EDIT2: Damn. Just did some internet searching, and it turns out that Chrome simply removed the Instant Extended API option, so the old New Tab page is no longer an option.
Thanks, Google! This'll definitely help wash down the G+ that you've also been shoving down our throats!

You can change the home page or the page that opens up when you click the new tab button to something else, like a website, if you want
