Elemental Amplification Test

Test video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ek2RN8TXxSY

Description directly copied:

tl;dr: Elemental Amplfication may not be giving what the description says(50% damage instead of 50% magic attack), and at the same time serves to invalidate someone's previous test video(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sIZDQIMKpk).

I have tested Elemental Amplification as a response to the question whether it is 50% magic attack, or 50% final damage. This testing only applies to Ice Lightning mages and Fire Poison mages as they have the skill 'Elemental Amplification'.

Magic Attack%:
12% from Emblem
30% from Staff
21% from Shield(Secondary)

Damage%:
+10% from Kanna
+10% from Demon Avenger
+10% from Chain Lightning Hyper Skill Passive
+24% from Hyper Points
+12% from Staff Bonus Potential

*No points are added to Arcane Aim, so it can be discounted

Boss%:
217% during the time of testing

Ignore defense makes no difference(Both before and after have 91% PDR)

Output:
2,598,190,625(Before Elemental Amplification)
2,931,296,212(After Elemental Amplification)

2,931,296,212/2,598,190,625 = 1.128020675427

There are 3 weapon stats I am interested in during the test:
- Magic Attack%
- Damage%
- Final Damage%

If it was Magic Attack%: (((100 + 12 + 30 + 21) + 50) / (100 + 12 + 30 + 21)) = 1.30674846626
If it was Damage%: (50 + 317 + 24 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 12)/(317 + 24 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 12) = 1.13054830287
- Note that Damage% and Boss% are additive to each other, hence the reason why you see number '317'(217 from Boss%, the 100 is the base)
If it was Final Damage%: 1.5, as it would have been multiplicative to other final damage sources

Conclusion:

According to the test, Elemental Amplification only gives ~12.8% more damage which is closer to the damage increase from 50% damage%(~13.1%). So, assuming if it is damage%, likely this may have happened:
- The skill gives the wrong stat increase
- The description is wrong

For the video that someone linked to(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sIZDQIMKpk), the reason why his damage increase appears to look like final damage is that he is attacking NORMAL monster and not BOSS monsters. He said in the description that he has 0% total damage, so 50% damage would be a direct 50% damage increase to mobs hence the reason why 50% 'magic attack' increase appears to look like final damage%. (Magic attack% is multiplicative to total damage%)

So for the Arch mages(I/L and F/P), you might end up getting 50% total damage instead of 50% Magic Attack the description claimed to had said. In the case of the test, I might potentially be missing ~15-16% more damage(1.30674846626/1.13054830287) had the passive skill gives ACTUAL Magic Attack%.

@improbable: Ah interesting, so likely someone who may have mistook the skill as extra Magic ATT% might have to recube their equips then

That's actually working as normal. It changed from Final Damage to Damage % in Explorers' revamp from RED patch. The skill description from KMS says it's "offensive magic damage %" as opposed to magic attack %, so the translation in GMS is at fault for the misinformation.

If submitted to nexon, they would probably change the skill description to fit what it actually does instead of what it should do.
