Thief

Which Thief?

Hello.. today I'm wondering which Thief class I should main. I currently raised a Xenon to 201, put a buncha money into and got it up to 700k range. However I'm still feeling really weak. A lot of other people I party with may hit a bit lower but they ultimately hit faster. Less I can cap out on Beam Dance then idk how to keep up.
I'm willing to swap all my gear to a different character if be needed. I knew Xenons were a bit.. not as strong as everything else but i still enjoyed them, but not being able to keep up is sorta frustrating.

So my question is which class to main.
I currently have a 181 Dual Blade, which is my second favourite under Xenon, theyre very similar Asura is basically a super faster harder hitting beam dance but has a short duration. Only thing I have a problem with DB is it doesn't feel as smooth to play as Xenon does and his mobbing is about the same as Xenon (mediocre).
I also have a 12x Phantom I'm willing to raise. Phantoms are pretty fun also and can be more diverse. I do like being the support in many games as well as a rogue so Phantom is a good mix of all my favourites in one. However I've never done much end-game stuff as him so idk how he holds up later.

As for Shadower/Night Lord/Walker I haven't played any of them (since reworks) I have a low level Walker but thats about it. I'm not really keen on the throwing stars stuff atm but idk I could get used to it so theyre still options. Guess when in doubt I could just switch my DB to an NL.

So in conclusion what I'm looking for a fun thief who's very good at bossing and has decent mobbing. I could end up even keeping the Xenon in the end.. input??

@volpi: phantoms have the lowest % for their main attack compared to most thief classes 140% for Mille atm getting lowered to 120% soon. Hit per sec is higher but it doesn't make up for it. Their buffs are misleading. Even though their range goes up 1.8x, their clean range is pretty low due to a low cane multiplier and lack of sources of atk. You need almost double the funds of a db/nl/nw to be on par. They have the better end game potential though at around 32 hits per second. Flip the coin will add around 5 hits/second for 30 seconds if you can cap. They will always be low on those dpm charts so you need an insane amount of funding to make it "better" than other classes.

@dragonglord: Haha yea we have way too many buffs my buffs go to like the 8 key or something, even with macros.. So thats good I use a Terminus which has the highest speed of all the whips right? All my friends judge me for not using a Faf f3
Anyway thanks. I've decided I'm just gonna play all 3 xp Xenon/DB/Phantom. Raise them all while primarily investing into Xenon.

well idk about the whole xenons being "not as good" as other classes. End game bossing is very reachable for xenon and you definitely don't need to cap beam dance (although it is slightly easier now with the % dmg buff) Snipe has pretty high % dmg and a lot of lines and i believe the delay is now just slightly higher than night lords so they are pretty good on speed. This can be accounted for by faster whip, green pots and whatnot. I think if you enjoy your xenon, the you should stick with it. The damage output is pretty great and its a pretty versatile class with several vertical movements. Also in future patches, we get snipe buffs and ALSO (my favorite) our 40% crit buff and 30%(?)pdf buff are becoming passives. This will make buffing in bosses so much easier and you'll have that edge over other classes. Although I'm kinda biased cuz i love xenon hehe. And like other ppl have said, its probably not worth the trouble switching cuz u gotta get new 2ndary and weapon and other untradables you may have.

Phantoms are going to be able to steal Hypers?? O-o fair and balanced
What exactly about Phantoms makes them hard to fund?
I did play a bit of Night Walker (up to 50ish) was a lot more fun than Night Lords for sure. I'll probably boost up my Night Walker for now and if I don't enjoy it then I'll raising the Phantom a bit more.

I've played a majority of the thief classes (night Lord aside), and to meet your requirements of bossing and mobbing, I would highly recommend night walker.

Even after the nerf, they are still incredibly good at bossing, breaking speed cap innately and with bats, three shadow partners, and modern hyper.

Phantom is a decent option, but really gets quite muley, and is incredibly hard to fund.

I am being biased, i love phantoms, and i will always recommend trying phantoms, that being said, phantoms do pretty good damage using mille( i heard it's abt 15 hits/sec, which turns to about 30 with 100% crit) with cross surge & finalcut( or reckless hunt:bow, basically a 40% damage increase i believe, but lowers your defenses) and also more hps with arrow platter. In a later patch, we can even steal hyper buffs such as shadower's flip the coin, giving you a 60m caps for 30 seconds with a cd of just 45 seconds and since you like being support, we have hs, rage and a bunch of other skills. Even a 25 sec bind (freezing breath) albeit you can't do anything for the 25 seconds, you are invincible tho so yeah ! just my opinion

Yea the reboot patch made Snipe hit faster and its pretty noticeable :o I didn't know it added an extra line tho, less that hasn't been incorporated yet. Yea I still enjoy Xenon a lot so idk. :c

I'd say stay Xenon! It's not worth the time imo to switch to another class except for like job switching. The amounts of time and effort isn't worth it to switch unless you're like ridiculously rich lol. Just try to fund yourself slowly to point where you can cap with Beam Dance. Overall, Xenon's are a fairly balanced class if not just below average by like a margin in my opinion. Like the guy above me stated, they are getting buffs these last few patches now until eventually they would be good if not already are lol. Stay Xenon, don't bother with Phantoms since they're even hard to fund. Db's are also pretty hard to fund but they're pretty good endgame wise and really rewarding.

@biagbater you are not wrong my friend, and yes snipe is getting faster patch after patch, and in world tour patch(KMS) snipe got an extra hit so with hyper it will be hitting 8 lines (and faster) normaly

u can get decent speed infusion + monster park green potion to hit faster. if u have a terminus jaeger (fast 4), along with dsi+green pot+booster u should reach hard cap for attack speed.

i might be wrong but i think in kms xenons got a buff that reduced snipe delay (therefore faster). or did we alrdy have that update idk

Personally I've always been torn between Night Lords and Dual Blades, and can never concretely choose one or the other so I bounce a lot.

Problem with that is I'd like to actually be able to do endgame bossing and stuff. :s
