Will Basil shut down for Sopa ?

As you can read,I was wondering if basil will be doing the same ?

Oranage mushrooms blog (max's blog) has done it and i was wondering if basil would do the same if so.I support them for making that choice,SOPA is something which shouldnt be taken lightly at all.

I wanna hear other peoples opinions on what they think about the SOPA and what they will be doing if basil actually decides to do what every other site is doing to support the petition.

OK people here's what i think. Congress needs to get half of each house to vote for the bill to pass it on to Mr. Obama. I doubt that will happen, considering the senate currently has more Ds than Rs. And EVEN IF IT DOES PASS BOTH HOUSES, I'm pretty sure Obama wont sign that bill because it is supported by republicans. And im pretty sure this bill will not get a 2/3 vote after that. SOPA WILL DIE. YAY INTERNET. GO TO HELL SOPA.

Im sorry, i just find this comment really funny cuz he says "who is sopa?". Lolz. As if we've all been hating on a person. And that congress is going to vote on a person. And that the existence of this person is going to censor the internet. AND THAT SOMEONES NAME IS SOPA.
And @xbanxditx: Read my post before you attempt to teach me something "new". I didn't specifically say "choose to not vote for someone because they back up this bill" and "Most people who are interested in spamming their Congresspersons are already doing so." For no reason. Of course anyone can participate, but the ones who can't vote/won't be able to vote any time soon which encompasses most of this site, really don't have that much power. Why? Because they don't have the voting power to deny someone a seat in Congress for supporting a bill they don't like.
Sowwy i misunderstood. I apologize. I didnt know u meant voting on congressmen, i thought u meant voting on the bill. Fowgiveness pweez? xD

Well I was wrong/right.

Wordpress was participating in the strike, but I guess those people who wanted to shut down their blog could choose to do it or not.

Proof I was right: wordpress.com

Don't say I don't know anything. I know my facts. I just assumed all wordpress blogs were like that .
You yourself specifically mentioned votes, there are few people on the site who could actually choose to not vote for someone because they back up this bill. And shutting a relatively unknown site isn't going to do much. Especially when there's so many threads about it already here, or when the sites that most people in the states actually do frequent are already shutting down. Most people who are interested in spamming their Congresspersons are already doing so.
All i have to say to this is that whether your older than 18 or lower than 18 WE DO NOT VOTE ON THIS. CONGRESS DOES. The thing we can do on the other hand is to protest this bill. And im pretty sure u dont have to be 18 to protest o.o. And Congress would be smart to pay attention to the children below 18 that dont like this bill because most of us spend hours on the computer everyday.
there is over 3 million people that have signed a petition against sopa. i think there should be a law or at least something stating that if a certain amount of people petition or try and stop a law, then it shouldn't get passed. plus if obama signs this i doubt anyone is going to vote for him. because this is just a stupid law, hundreds and hundreds of people are going to loose there jobs due to this which is just stupid in my opinion, especially at times like now when its hard to get a job
True that, about obama not gettin reelected if he signs it. He would be stupid to. And he's probably not going to sign it whether he likes it or not since it's supported by Republicans. Anyways, i really dont get why these republicans support this act

It's as easy as signing the petition on google's website. Political activity is based on the citizen, thats probably why america is so apathetic, people like you refuse to participate
Too bad I already signed a petition

I checked on that one page of wikipedia that is not blocked, explaining SOPA, and i found out that the bill is being voted on January 24th. These possible last 6 days with the internet are going to be as precious as the possible last 6 months of someone's life who has cancer

how many of us are even going to contact our representatives to tell them to vote against SOPA? Honestly, it won't matter because most basilers aren't going to do anything about SOPA except complain about it.
sorry for my ignorance but what is sopa?
It's a bill that pretty much threatens the internet as we know it for the united states. We could end up having Internet similar to China, Iran and I forgot what other country but its bad instead of having to get a lawsuit towards an infringing website and going through the due process and hearing both sides of the story in court they only listen to the persons who's copyright is being infringed. The process would pretty much be copyright holder files a infringement form of some sort against lets say Youtube since it's really popular and there's lots of copyright infringing material there, then the form goes to a judge and the judge then decides if the website should be blacklisted and no one from the US can access it. It poses other security risk as well for the US and we would be more prone to cyber attacks.
