When is it worth purchasing a hired merchant?
I am not able to kill most of the end-game bosses that drop valuable equips (although I will be going with my guild soon). I have summer permits on 2 accounts. As of now I have plenty of fairly valuable items to fill both stores, so I haven't had the need to merchant.
While permits are very cost effective compared to hired merchants, there are some obvious disadvantages. I can't sell items when I want to play the game, and once I choose to start playing I lose my spot. I don't like leaving my computers on all day/night; the fans spin like crazy and I'm sure it reduces the lifetime of my computers. A hired merchant would be much more preferable to a permit, but they cost 20k for 30 days as opposed to 1.8k for 90 days. As of now I don't know if I'm comfortable paying 1.6b mesos/month to sustain my merchant.
Is it worth buying a hired merchant? Does having a 24/7 easy-to-manage store justify its cost (ie, am I missing out on a lot of sales during the day)? If it's not worth it now, would it be worth it when I start merchanting?

uwot? Just made 4bil in one week by merching. Yep, slower than selling Nx straight-up but wait, i don't convert real cash in meaningless meso!...
I would say its only worth getting if you are trying to merch. like the granny merchant allows you to buy items from people so you can buy items cheap even when you are offline and you can resell it on your own store stand crap.
Personally, I just use the hired merchant for the sake of convenience. My computer isn't the greatest, so having maple constantly up in the background for a shop permit is quite annoying. Given the amount of profit I make each day (non-merching profit), I would gladly pay ~70m per day to avoid having to set up/maintain a shop permit.
Spots should matter anymore now with the site. I can't imagine anyone looking from room to room these days.
imo permit is fine unless you have things of value to sell and/or a steady stream of items that will get you your 1.6b back
@tonyroxhehe: are you complaining about the owls they made free like they were supposed to a long time ago? o.o They should have turned it to be purchasable with mesos like they did with item locks.

I think merching is a lot easier now. I can easily get 100-200m a day while only playing for a few minutes. It's not a lot of money but at the same time it's perfect for people like me who don't really play anymore.
If you don't make more than 600m a week of profit, you'd be losing money. (Broa nx rates)
