What is fear

As the title says, I want to have a more understand of what fear is. Through meditation, i started to understand other emotions. FEAR is just a hard topic for my brain to understand. As of now, i am 20. I had overcome my fear of highs, my fear of death, my fear of small places,my fear of acceptance,my fear of belonging, but i don't know what i should do to tackle fear itself. Am i going through this the wrong way? Should i be tryin to "tackle" it. Is there another emotion i can use to overcome and cancel out fear? Is it my Will? I need answers. I am still unsure of many things. I am sure, that I have a goal. I know this isn't a typical thread. My friends, they are not ready to talk about this. I was hoping someone on the internet can help me understand.

@xdarkshynobi: lol what disrespectful? It was straight facts, i don't get how a lack of personal consideration to you and just facts is disrespectful, if anything it's the opposite but ok, it seems you have long way to go, good luck on your journey. Peace.

@Aeon128: Your response was outright disrespectful. Anyone with a brain can tell just from the words you used. You are not as good at doin what you think you're good at. I apologize if i made you feel uneasy. Your lack experience is clear. I am not sayin i am any better than you. It's much easier to talk to someone, when you know a little about them. That was my main reason for sayin what i said. I wanted experience from my peers, not information i could look up. Again my bad bro, no hostility was meant.

@xdarkshynobi: lol so let me get this straight, you post asking about something and saying about how your friends aren't ready, then don't like when you get answers? and now i'm a know it all for giving advice....lol you are looking for sympathy not answers, just say so next time. And I fought with my dad multiple and have grown up pretty poor so forgive me for spending time looking for answers and being blessed enough to be able to find them for myself lol.

You are white.
Betterment of oneself is great, but overcoming "fear" in itself? It's a biological function that is quite thoroughly linked with our existence today.

I'm not gonna play internet psychologist, but if you've had a violent past it's hard to alleviate it from your persona. It seems like you've moved to a less violent place, I don't know, but to be honest, unless you're obsessing over killing someone before they kill you, a certain degree of aggressiveness and paranoia is necessary. Sometimes the law won't protect you. On the other hand, if you're walking down your street and thinking someone is gonna jump from the trees to kill you and steal your car, you need some legit help.
Please, your arrogance is showing.

Become a nihilist, not caring about anything, thinking life really has no meaning. Then you won't have fear of anything.

You are very knowledgeable. I guess i put too much emphasis on were and how i grew up, I don't see the person i am now. Even my parents don't look at me the same anymore. As well as my friends, they see me as a completely different person from 5 years ago.
@xdarkshynobi Hmm have you ever considered that maybe what you are feeling is bordering on the line between paranoia and fear? For example, as I child I got bullied a lot and usually what they would do is sneak up on me and attack me when my back was turned and when I was least expecting them. Although this was many many years ago, I still find myself to this day, occasionally turning around and checking my surroundings everywhere I go, sometimes even in my own home, simply because of fear or paranoia.

Edit : Or if not paranoia, maybe subconsciously you remember a traumatizing experience of when you were young, and that could be causing your uneasy feelings.
@xdarkshynobi: Um that came straight from me buddy . You haven't seem alot of my posts about topics like this have you. That was simple observation.

If you want more of my thoughts on your OP here it is, you are reading too much into it. You are human, fear is as much a part of human nature as is every other emotion. It's all about balance, once it's not too overpowering then it's not a problem. Relax and don't make life more complicated than it is.

And just because it can be done doesn't make it necessary.
Fear of the unknown. Your mind isn't sure of the outcome, so it puts up a defense mechanism against said situation that's potentially "dangerous", or your mind knows what will happen so it once again tells you through the feeling of fear that something bad is about to happen. That's why those who are introspective tend to be able to overcome their mental blocks. Understanding goes a long way, as they say Knowledge is power.
It is apparent, you got that off wiki. I can read myself, you don't need to say thing that are easily available. If you feel like truly helping. Use your own words. Check yourself before you say "your mind" because no one understands anyone's else mind except their own. I am lookin for a way to disable the negative thoughts, that arise when i do a certain action, can you find something on that using the internet?

Fear is simply an unpleasant feeling we get. There are multiple ways to deal with this feeling. And there are many things that may be stronger than fear.
The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself.
You can't just say that and walk away. Why don't you paraphrase that? Put it in terms that are more relative.

@CouponGoddess might as well use endeavor aron w/ shell bell. That rattata set is so 2009.

@HotDogs4Sale I have read through bluffingtonpost and wiki both gave me some insight. I Appreciate your thoughtful words. Even if i am still tryin to grasp your concept, to a degree i understand. Do you have any experiences, that you're will to share? Me, running in an urban city i always have the thought of getting hit by a car, but something else tells me, keep going. I have been hit by a car a few times on a bike. So in my own strange way, i put the bike away and started to rely on myself. My fear of death had vanished, because i took my own steps to avoid it. There is still this underlying sensation, I CANT explain very well, but it pulls me back, my simplest explanation is fear. The strangest part, is i don't feel it when i run, i feel it right before i sleep.

Well someone once told me (Or I read it somewhere, I forget) that fear is anticipating the action, not the action itself. Using your examples, you are not afraid of heights, you are afraid of the thought of falling. You are not afraid of death, you are afraid of the thought of dying. Thats how I think of fear now as it seems to make sense to me. I hope this helps you in some way, and if not, well then I tried.

It isn't that simple. Courage is by far one of my strongest characteristics, but all it does is give me comfort. I am not lookin for comfort, i am lookin for satisfaction.
