There are around an estimated 63 million people that are unemployed in Japan so it would slow anything down if the population decreased a bit. In my opinion it wouldnt hurt anything if the world's population dropped from 7.5 billion to around 5 billion, nothing violent just by having lower birth rates for about 10-20 years.
