Sin at melee range

First let me start off by saying, I haven't had a since that first balance patch for explorers so I may be misinformed.
So I just made a sin today and realized we still punch at close range. I thought they changed this during big bang just like archers. Or did they change it again during chaos.
Again sorry if I'm misinformed, and thanks for responding!

Sins still punched close range before chaos too.
