@lulnuts: Okay well i can see why your not doing that well in official games oppose to pick up games. Your coach wants you to play in the post but during pick up games you probably like to play from the wing and drive or shoot. Post game is much more different and a lot more harder cause you need a lot of fundamentals (foot work) while using your size to your advantage. Even Lebron with what 9 years in the league isn't very efficient in the post cause he plays more like a guard despite his size.

What you can do for now is when you get the ball in the post just square up in triple threat position and play as if your a guard but much closer to the basket, kind of like what bosh and gasol often does oppose to andrew bynum or howard who play with their back to the basket. And from there you can drive to the basket if you can get your foot and shoulder below and around him (make sure if your going to cross someone over or drive past them always have your shoulder lower than theirs) or just bank it in off the glass. But during your free time, you should be working on your post game with your back to the basket. Now theres the basic like the hook shot, the mini jump hook, the spining jump hook etc Which you should be working on with both your hands but the most important thing is foot work and there's no way i can really explain that so its up to you to watch videos of great post players like olajuwon, and see which playing style fits you most and try to adapt your game to that person.

this video i found very useful but keep in mind that howards almost 7 ft tall so some of those things you probably can't practice yet haha

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mArHU1ewSog

So if your playing in the post i would recommend working more on your midrange game oppose to beyond the arc, and i think the most important thing is how many dribbles you take, cause if your a gaurd thats fine dribble as much as you want, but in the post dribbling a lot is dangerous and youll basically be going barely anywhere lol so work on scoring off a few dribble (one - two)
Thanks for the help much appreciated ill practice this

Its because you get nervous when playing in front of a huge crowd, i know that happened to me when i used to play a lot.

@Azngothopz:
1. i can drive with both hands
2. dribbling is harder with my left hand
3. I used to be able to all of a sudden Im falling short etc.

Heres another thing my coach said I'm playing out of position he said i should be a guard but since our team is very short like in height he has to put me at the post since im one of the kind of tall player.

@lulnuts: well that would be helpful but im just going to give you a list of questions for now =0

Are you ambidextrous with the basketball?

That basically means can you drive and finish with using ur right or left hand at the rim?
Can you make hook shots and floaters with both hands ?
Can you dribble the ball with both hands at about the same efficiency? (between the legs, behind the back, in and out cross over etc)
Can you make mid range shots off a screen, off a pass, off one or two dribble, fadeaway?
Same questions except beyond the arc.
Do you have a post game ?

So what you have to do is the next time you play a pick up game find out what your bad at doing on this list of question. Course it's pretty vague but i think its a good start =D
I can make a video of me shooting/dribbling etc or record a pickup game or something
That's what you shouldv'e done in the first place. I mean nobody can critique you unless people actually see how you play.

Because you need a partner to get better, you're doing one thing right but to progress even further you need other players experiences to develop wider thinking so you can reach and see new heights. I tell people this every time but you should learn to be wowed by other players and learn to wow other players cause that helps motivate and interchange experiences with others that will help you grow. That probably didn't make sense but... meh...

Another thing you should do; play other sports, you'll start seeing things that you can take in and apply to basketball. Welp that's my opinion from experiences.
@lulnuts: Okay well the best way to get better is to figure out your weaknesses and strength as a player, whether it's skill wise or athlethic wise. Like for me personally, i know i need to work on using my right hand more so ive been doing more dribbling drills for my right hand and then try implementing what i practice into a pick up game or 1 on 1 or w.e (im left handed). So that's up to you to figure out where your not really good at, or you can ask your team mates/coach w.e. But besides those skill things, i would recommend workin on your fast twitch muscles and gaining more muscle mass.
I have a game today at 8 so I'm going there at 3 what should I be working on between those hours?
be allen iverson
he barely practices and hes really good
That's actually a lie. Allen Iverson is known to have practiced more than anybody his dribbling.

OT: It's just stage fright. Just let loose and go forward. I had the same problem especially during the clutch AND WHEN I AM THE ONLY OPTION.

maybe the pressure is on you when you're in game. if you're struggling in game then just get some easy lay ups to gain some confident .

I think it just may be that there's more pressure on you, being that it's an "Official" game w/fans and referees.
You might just be really nervous, to the point where it messes up your game.

@lulnuts: Flick your wrist up don't extend your arms too much. Only way to improve your shooting is to just keep shooting. go on youtube and type in how to shoot a basketball. The videos are actually really helpful.
Your going through a phase. I went through that for 2 years. Just start practicing ball handling drills everyday. Also, I think maybe the problem is that you are confused about setting screens and cutting to the basket etc. I still have trouble with that part of the game. The best thing to do is to put yourself in the mental state of mind that you know what you are doing even if you don't. Play more organized basketball and stop playing scared.
What should I practice? And when I release I'm still confused do i shoot up or just extend my arm

its because there is too many people on ur team. u get less time with the ball, so ur not as comfortable. i think
