College rejection appeal. is my letter alright?

The college which i hoped to get into for the fall semester this year sent me a letter of rejection and i am very upset by this. i felt the only thing left to do was write an appeal letter to the admissions committee. could someone proofread it for me and let me know how it is? should anything be edited? should i add more? please any and all help is needed i would just like to attend school because it is all i have at this point in time.

GGC Admissions Committee,
My name is __________ and I am writing you in regards to the letter I received that told me of my denial into Georgia Gwinnett College. I can understand to an extent why I was denied acceptance to the school and I feel as if I can improve and become more focused upon entering your college due to how much free time I will have to focus on my studies and improving my GPA. The reason why my academic scores in high school were extremely low is because I was easily distracted by other things and those things interfered with my school work. I would put what wasn't important behind me and put what should have come last 1st in my life. If the decision is overturned and I am able to attend the college, most of my time will be spent in school working hard to get the grades needed to raise my GPA and achieve good grades for my 1st semester. As for me working, my schedule wouldn't interfere with school in any way. I would have plenty of time to focus on my studies and attend classes with work only being part-time and me working only at night and on weekends. I understand that my scores from the SAT/ACT are fairly low and I am also the reason why this occurred. I am scheduled to take the COMPASS test this coming Tuesday in all 3 sections offered. If the decision is overturned and I can attend the school I will make sure that I am not placed in remedial classes by getting the necessary scores needed to be placed in regular classes for the semester. In closing I would just like to let the committee know why it is so important for me to attend college. Me pursuing an education outside of high school is the best thing for me right now and I would just love the opportunity to make up for the mistakes that were made in high school at GGC. The mistakes that were made in high school can't be made up, but I feel as if I have learned from those mistakes and they cannot and will not happen if given the chance. School is all I have at this moment in time and I need something to keep myself occupied and focused on what I want to do in life. If not in school I feel as if I would be lost as to what I want to do and be completely blind to what is really important. I ask that you only think long about your decision to allow me entrance to your school and I can assure that if you do allow me to attend GGC for the fall semester, your decision would not be taken for granted. I would love to pursue my education further and I do hope that you reconsider in allowing me to attend GGC for the fall semester.
Sincerely,

Low grade/SAT=barred entry. I recommend going to a community college in the meanwhile.

If you actually wanted to get in that college, you would have done well in school/on your SATs beforehand
@Above, almost all of you are wrong.

Appeal letters DO WORK,
I had about 10 friends last year send in appeal letters and 3 of them got into the school they appealed to, 1 got accepted as a spring admit, and the others got denied.
These were to Tier 1/2 colleges too. IE UCI, UC Berkeley.
Sending a "please please pretty please" letter isn't going to do much. He needs to show WHY they should let him in. He already shot himself in the foot with the low gpa/SAT. Saying "I was distracted" is pretty much saying "I didn't give a crap at the time but oh man!". It's true, a lot of schools DO accept on a prohibitory period but you need to show why you deserve that special chance.

I would remove the "I was distracted by other things" part. Makes it sound like you are flighty and won't do well in college where the distractions are even greater. I agree with @xreminiscing . Your GPA and SAT scores were low, you would probably be better off doing a year or two at a CC to get some "wow" grades and impress them then.

Appeal letters do work, just not at very high rates. I believe my university has a 1% appeal rate on top of its 21% admissions rate, and the hopefuls do get a response.

The thing with appeal letters is that you have to show some proof that you've accomplished something, or rather a variety of things, in between the time you sent in your application and the time you wrote the letter. If say you raised your GPA by a substantial amount, won a bunch of awards, and a state championship then you're very likely to get in. You have to show them something that they missed out on when they made the decision in the first place. Just writing a letter asking them to let you in without any new evidence of your qualifications isn't going to cut it, because they will still be going off the same information you provided them with before.

Don't even bother sending that lol. Just do what everyone else has said, or go to your 2nd choice.

What Een said. Appeal letters for rejections don't work. Just transfer there the next year.
