Maplestory desperately needs revamped transportation

To be perfectly honest, I'm dumbfounded something like this hasn't already happened. Some players like to reminisce about the long trip from Vic to Orbis, about how social the game was when you had to spend 15 minutes on a boat huddled with all these other players.

As a player who did very much enjoy those experiences, I'm here to tell you it's never going to be anything like that again. The Maple world is massive now compared to the times these kinds of memories call on. Not just twice, or three times, but I'd wager upwards of ten times larger than it used to be, if not more. That means of transportation would be abysmal for today's main playerbase of go-go-go style players.

What they really need to do is adapt the portal system from Granis (the Nova home) and apply it to every town in the game. They already have entirely unnecessary quick-moves to Momijigoaka (did I spell that right? Going off of memory here) and New Leaf City. Why do Hayatos and Kannas have a shortcut to their home city, but no other class? The entire system - as I'm sure is no contention around here - reeks of lackadaisical efforts.

They could easily explain it with lore. There are any number of magical things in Maple that could explain a new type of portal in each town leading to a much more interconnected Maple.

EDIT: Too many people are mistaking this topic as me complaining about the length of time it takes to get anywhere. That is not what I'm doing. I'm trying to point out the very poorly designed and utterly arbitrary mechanics of the game. There is no reason or rhyme to much of the transportation in this game.

EDIT2: I am depressingly reminded how many people do not actually read before posting a reply.

Well if it helps you when you go to Pantheon in Victoria Island you can go anywhere and they will transport you there, there should be a pantheon HQ in every world

@cilverx4 I cannot even begin to express how much I disagree with your "if it's not broke" mentality. Just because something works doesn't mean it shouldn't be improved upon. I care about the quality of the games I play. As @Amuro pointed out, there are many things coming up which fix what were otherwise very poor design choices. We should not settle for second-best.

@TheTot: Youre complaining about what every other mapler doesnt even give a second thought to. That's how "out there" this thread is. There's an easy method to get everywhere...who cares.

*shrugs* Maple is all sorts of illogicality and untapped potential. Though it is slowly fixing itself (we're finally going to be able to add more than 1 SP at a time, those annoying icons on the left will soon be able to disappear, there's finally going to be a quicker way of managing link skills, etc.), I'm not too hopeful about its future.

Transportation is completely unnecessary now. The wait time is ridiculous and a waste.
Simply have the tree of Six Path Crossway act as one giant mystical portal to anywhere you want to go for the price of some mesos, and BAM problem soleved.

You may not be complaining about the amount of time you wait, but I am.

@cilverx4: We clearly disagree with what is and is not an issue.

@TheTot The system that exists now is more than sufficient. You can get to any major city within ~1 minute using elven blessing and going to pantheon. Sure they could put one of those portals in every town...but really? You felt the need to make a thread complaining about something thats not even an issue to begin with? Most people can get to anywhere they want to go every 30 min. If youre a high level kaiser, you can go to almost any town every 1.5 min. Personally, I think its almost as easy as it could possibly get without hyper teleport stones.

@Glinda21 I'm fully aware of that. Furthermore it's even faster to use Momi, as you don't have to wait for the train. That's not the point.

The point is that these shortcuts are entirely arbitrary. There's no reason Momi and NLC have their own quick-move, but no other town does. No reason practically, and no reason in lore, either. Not to mention, many questlines will give you an alert when you turn the level at which they begin, and they will transport you right to their map (Aliens, Evo Lab, and LKC questlines come to mind).

Quest portal --> NLC --> kerning --> Pantheon --> anywhere --> Profit?
This is what I do to get around quickly and it works really well for me. I think the transportation system is fine right now
Besides, Nexon has WAY more important things to tend to right now

@oGreg @snitchers I think the point went right over your heads.

@snitchers Not even close. A Hyper Tele Rock would still be insanely more versatile. What I'm proposing would let you move between cities, not any map in the game, or furthermore warp to any player in the game.
Ya lets just give everyone a perm hyper teleport rock and ruin that people like me spend money to get a perm tele rock.

in what MMORPG can you just teleport anywhere you please i played runescape for about a month and a half and i walked EVERYWHERE unless i had a high enough lvl magic to teleport there even then it was only to a town (aka return scrolls, quick move, taxi)
Uh, a lot of places make it so you can teleport anywhere you please.

I think MS could actually take a note from Guild Wars 2 (of all games -_-) where you just have portals on the world map that you click and you teleport there for money. The farther it is from you, the more you pay. It's a gold sink which will be helpful plus there's still a benefit from the tele rock (no meso fees).

Don't forget about family tele and pantheon tele

why not just have npcs sell hyper rocks, lore could be something like "we know you're lazy and impatient, so why not"
