The feeling of the Waitlist
Just found out I got wait-listed for my #1 college of choice while all my friends got in. I dont even know what to feel like... I'm just ready to give up on the remaining portion of my school semester...

Howw too cope with this wait-list
Waitlist means hope. It shouldn't mean you put all your faith into it, but it still means hope. Last year my brother was waitlisted at UPenn, and over the past 4-5 years, UPenn literally took 25 students from the waitlist. Nevertheless, he was accepted from the waitlist. Don't ever count yourself out.

You're Asian.
They had enough Asian kids to fill the quota so now they waitlisted you.
Maybe.
But don't get too bummed out, dude. It's not like undergrad matters a lot. Plus you can always transfer like me! :^)
actually.... he said he was southeast asian. if you take them out of the category of "asians," and have them as their own subgroup, they actually have the lowest high school graduation rate, highest dropout rate in the US, large amount of refugees, etc etc. so if his uni's demographic questions were specific, southeast asian would've worked in his favor.
my school is unranked wait-list two years ago only 150 out of 1000 wait-listed students got in. last year 0 students got in.
I dont understand why I got wait-listed. this college is almost average, I know so many people (not trying to sound conceited) who had way worse SAT scores, grades, EC stuff and still got in to this particular college. I even had the legacy status going for me... I'll never know why this wait-list even became a thing for me...
Maybe your essay was terrible.
My cousin got wait-listed, rejected. Sent 2 appeals and was accepted.
Don't feel bad. There's always community then transfer
@5outof5 do you have any extracurriculars? some schools look at those as well *cough*ubc*cough*

I can't seem to get this out of my head. I wont be able to sleep for weeks...

you're waitlisted--not rejected. you still have a chance. which school is it? you can usually find out how many the school admits/waitlist in data sets online or something. that can give you a slight idea.
