Maplestory from a Usb
Hi Basil, I need to get my computer wiped tomorrow (to clear my school's servers) and I was wondering if maplestory would still work if I just copy maplestory into a USB and back into my computer afterwards, or will I need to re-download?

It used to work for me in like 2010 but not anymore..
You would need to have Nexon Game Manager (?) installed in order for it to run. It's installed the first time any Nexon game is installed.
@8deathlord8: Download it then.
Copy the maplestory installer into the USB. Then just install it again.
Except I don't have the installer.
Won't work because the game wont be technically "installed", there might be some way around it but I don't know and it's easier to just copy the installer.
I play Maple on a USB, and it works fine. You can't launch the game through the website though, since it will keep pushing you to install MapleStory on C:. You'll have to start up the game through GameLauncher.
Copy the maplestory installer into the USB. Then just install it again.
Yes it works, I do that all the time when im at my friends.
just locate ur drive where the map "nexon" is installed and copy the whole map to your USB.
then just run .exe file ;D
@xxsup3rf1yxx: Haha thankyou c:
@iLIkeArrow: Hmm yea, I'll find out tomorrow.
@Teryu And then do I just place the reg key back in?
Yes.
But I doubt it would work...
IDK, at least try it.
Better than nothing.
The gamelauncher should work properly, but you won't be able to launch it from the maplestory website as it won't detect it as being installed.
@8deathlord8:
You welcome, and might I say your Blue look has me mesmerized. <3 <3
@Teryu And then do I just place the reg key back in?
MapleStory puts in values in your registry. It won't work if you just copy the data.

LOL. Yea ik, I mean it is worth a shot before actually downloading.
So try copying it and running it tonight. No harm in it actually if its all gonna be deleted anyways.
Will do, thanks for your input!
I'm not 100% sure but you might want to back of registry data if you're doing that.
1. Start - Run - Type in "regedit" without quotes.
2. Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeWizetMapleStory".
3. File - Export, then save it into your USB.
I don't think it would work but at least give it a go.
You will need to download the setup to ur computer and then when it ask where to store it select your usb.
You cant play maplestory just by copying over the files. But it is worth a shot before redownloading all the files.
Dayum okay, there goes my broadband for the month.

@FlamyHeavens: @BlazeXDude: Ah that's good to know
@ZuaDrago: But will it still run?
@NovaCokeService: Can I download that individually or do I have to download it with Maple?
I did this trick before. And no. You need to download nexon game manager into your computer.
as long as you take the files from the same computer and the put them back in it its good to go
Maplestory doesn't like that.
I think it would work
I put it on a USB the I tried it on my school laptop
It launched by the laptop's security firewall thingo w/e blocked it from connecting to servers etc
