To use AEE, the item has to have 0 slots left?
And if yes, will the 1st AEE work 100%? or it depends on the number of regular scroll upgrades?

It adds stats depending on how much of that stat the item already has.

Needs to have 0 slots left. (Excluding or including hammers if used).
The first AEE has a 100% rate or success with it going down 10% per AEE.
