God I hate to even consider this
As a proud chat section-minded person I really hate to admit this, but right now the general section is the only hope for the survival of Basilmarket, I'm completely serious. Our forum has declined so much. Nowadays every thread seems to be about religion or politics. These chat sectioners appear to be lacking in any knowledge of forum practice, namely high school students on a Maplestory forum don't care about politics or religion,� THAT SIMPLE, yet they continue to make thread after thread about politics or religion, making it harder to find a decent thread in this forum. @Snovvy� (I know most of you� don't even bother reading his posts, and even those that did probably do automatically assume he's right) is trying to force all of Basilmarket into his socialist, antitheist, cause. His capitalist/religious opponents are just the same. Chat sectioners� live in a fantasy world where they're convinced that 12-15 year old kids understand what they are talking about, and have somehow come to the conclusion that changing the minds of adolescents will change the world. They also are under the illusion that creating threads about religion on a maplestory forum will cause people to turn from the faiths they have had for their entire lives. Well, sorry to call you back to reality, but that's not how it works.
Chat sectioners have never fixed an economy or converted religions. They actually have no experience about what they preach. They're mostly just college students or "Basilmarket intellectuals" (for those of you who don't actually know what a Basilmarket intellectual does they are pretty much 40 year olds living in their mom's basements trying to appear smart online) and they're definitely not qualified to create threads in the most prestigious online forum in the country, no, in the world. I know chat sectioners say 'kids should be educated about the world they live in''. They're right, they should be educated in the public school systems, not in Basilmarket. Basilmarket� � SHOULD be run like a Maplestory forum; threads about Maplestory, � and other stuff adolescent Asian children care about. If Basilmarket actually spent time within it's limit of topics it was supposed to spend time on, we'd have be one of the greatest forums ever.�
I don't believe the chat sectioners will ever be able to restore Basilmarkrt� to the level of power it once was, and honestly, I don't believe most want to either. They are always the first to point out the flaws with this forum and are eager, almost excited, to point out how much better they think another forum� is than Basilmarket. Don't misunderstand, it is important to point out the flaws in this forum (and there are many) and work on fixing them, but many chat sectioners, while they claim to love this forum, are the first to eagerly condescend or point out everything wrong with Basilmarket and never focus on what's right. Most general sectioners seem to genuinely love this forum, and even though blind patriotism is bad at least it gets people in the optimistic mindset. You ask the average general sectioner� what the best forum in the world is they typically say, without hesitation, Basilmarket. The average chat sectioner will either hesitate or say something like 'reddit', or anything other than Basilmarket, and those that do say the Basilmarket� usually are the first to attack it when convenient.
In short, while it sickens me to think about it, general section is currently the only realistic hope (I say realistic in the sense that they have the best chance of being popular, not that they would do the best job out of all the sections, the� Mage section would be better) of saving this forum from total collapse. I don't really think highly of the general sectioners, some of them I downright despise (namely _____) but right now they're the only section in Basilmarket� that even has a chance (albeit a very slim one) of restoring this forum.�

Oh my God the horrors.
You have the devoted theists, who won't back away from an argument, and you have the numerous atheists who deem themselves above others who are theists just because they believe in a religion, and those who try to be open-minded that get dragged into the argument (I think I would fit into this category) when they are confronted by the most ignorant fool (either theist or atheist) who can't make sense of their own banter.
Name 10 decent thread starters then.
If people make politics/religion threads and other people post in those threads, then there's obviously some interest in those topics. Whether or not the ideas such threads generate are good or not, the forum is serving its purpose: to provide an environment in which members can talk about some topic of interest.

this whole thing is a big duh, though not for the reasons you listed
basil is based around the maple-related aspect of the site so of course they're they only relevant ones, or the ones that make or break the site.
turning this into some whole issue about Snovvy and your opinions was the worst way you could present this idea, at least while trying to seem like you're making an unbiased comment on Chat as a whole.
