ITT: People who never played or even bothered with F/P mages before.

1) F/P mages have a higher percent damage per second and this is an undisputed fact unless you're blind.
2) F/P mages will always have a higher DPS [b]unless[/b] the damage range is above 45k, [b]or[/b] if your control of the character is absolutely horrible. [b]Also, one highly important aspect that everyone keeps forgetting: Damage Over Time will continue to damage a boss even if it uses cancel magic attk, damage reflect, stun, seal, seduce, etc. Due to this fact, F/P mages with the same range can solo a boss like CZak faster than an I/L mage can, even with as much as 70k range (tested multiple times by someone with 200 both classes).[/b]
3) F/P mages are less common, and that's mostly because of the average mapler's ignorance towards the class itself.
4) F/P mages are the kings of mobbing. While I/L mages attack slightly faster, F/P mages can hit more monsters, with more raw damage. This is a no brainer.

Paralyze = 1200% (200% x 6) damage per hit, 8 monsters, 180% dot, 800ms delay
Chain Lightning = 1200% (200% x 6) damage per hit, 5 monsters, +25% critical rate, 780ms delay

There are so many factors to consider for F/P mages. Like for example, your damage percentage is highest when you use all DoT moves and then Mist Eruption at the precise moments. However, if your damage range is high enough, ME will deal max damage. On another note, if your damage range is high enough, you will not need to use all DoT moves at all, which will continue increasing your DPS. It's a difficult subject, but according to southperry extractions, F/P has more % dps, and it's not even close.

And again, this is all on paper. People think "Oh, off-paper, in reality, f/p mages are worse because they can't time their moves perfectly." Well, off paper also includes the fact that maybe 1/4 of the time throughout a boss fight, you're interrupted. Stuns take out a lot of time. Seduce takes out a lot of time. DR and Cancel takes out a lot of time. Knockbacks take out a small amount of time but the knockback adds up. Using potions takes out time. Healing yourself from Seal or whatever takes out time. All these factors need to be considered, and at the end, it's too vague.

1 and 2: When you have near a 50k range, I/L is stronger because they have more hits. In terms of raw damage, F/P win since it takes like a 1k range to hit cap (hyperbole, yes).

3. Don't know? I've always seen F/Ps liked more than I/Ls.

4. On high health mobs and low funding, F/Ps win. On lower health mobs and higher funding, I/Ls win.

5. Different strokes for different folks; you'd have to try both out to see which you like better.

I love them both..but I will say I/L

I like ice lightnings over fire poison. But i love all mages =3

f/ps are amazing, fun, different, require actual thought & can be amazing with the right amount of control.

1. f/p will beat out i/l with low funding, but i/l will prob beat f/p as funding increases.
in magician revamp in future, f/p will definately outdamage i/l
2.pretty much same as 1
3.both have good rep, but you might be commended for playing f/p of the two since they are more uncommon
4. both are really good at mobbing, pretty much tie for most scenarios
5. thats a personal thing. for me, i like my f/p more than my i/l
