The Pirate Damage Ranges

To whomever it may concern,

I have noticed a lack of changes in the Pirate Damage Range thread, and was looking to take ownership of it. I had PM'd the current owner, @neiiinei, only to not get a response, almost a week later.

I had talked to the previous owner of the thread, HyeBandit, and he said the best thing to do was to send the current owner a PM, and about a week or so after, if they haven't replied, make it known to the site, so here I am.

If you could look into this, it would be great, I'll that I hope for is to be able to share the wealth of knowledge the Basil Market with others and to make a more popular and successful Pirate damage thread.

Whoever is in charge of this, please either post here, or get in touch with me via PM. I am very interested in running the thread and if I could get more information on this subject, or if I can take control of it immediately, all would be great and beneficial.

Best regards,

Sl3athowl, Griffin
Sorry i haven't been on basil in a while, my roommate only uses it for auctions, back now though
I posted my range in the guide and it hasn't been updated. I even PMed you about it. If it's not in the right format, please enlighten me on what I did wrong.

@UnrealXP:

2. The most we can do is notify people about the rules. Some people just think "ohai ranges guide, I'm gonna just write out my range," and we really can't do more than tell them to actually read the guide.

4. The Ranges guides, as far as I know, are all independent of each other. The most connection between any two is the Pirate and Thief ranges, and that's only because I owned both at one point. (Quit Pirate Ranges because my rules didn't run over as smoothly with pirates as it did with thieves.)
Like I said, I'm gonna delete all my old ranges as soon as I get new ones to add. Running a Ranges guide, like any other guide, is a volunteer thing. And the owner can only work if the community is willing to contribute. I haven't gotten more than one contribution I believe since big bang.

Believe me, unlike the thieves before me, I want to continue this guide for as long as I'm on basil. I've been at it for over a year and I don't want to stop anytime soon. I've made numerous threads in thief section asking for contributions (only one after big bang, but a few others before big bang), and it's only been getting worse.

Guides need the recognition that they had before all the changes done in May. I've done everything I could, even got moderator support, and it's been unsuccessful.
You should also somehow clear up the confusion between these three threads: one, two, and three.

The first one is the outdated where the ranges and the comments were on the same thread. It still says Jaacckk is managing it, people are still posting in it, and it's what comes up when you search for Pirate Damage Ranges in the search bar.

The second one is the one attached to the "updated" guide. I think people have trouble finding this page, and don't know where to submit their ranges since there's only three pages worth of ranges in total over the span of 4 months.

The third one is the guide itself where you can see all the ranges. I just think someone should clear things up for people; there's no point for a thread that's based on community contributions if most people are confused about it.

The guide now has old ranges, potential ranges, and now that Big Bang is here, I don't see how the old ranges will be helpful, or how people will find their way around the "guide".
1. When the new guide system was implemented, there were still thread versions of the stickies. They weren't accessible unless you searched for them like you said. I had to lock mine for thief damage ranges, but not everyone did the same.
2. There's nothing we can do about the comment system aside from putting a link to where people can comment in the guide. I believe (not looking right now) that I've already done that, and I'd recommend to any guide owner for ANY guide to do the same. Believe me, I tried a lot to get it changed, but mrbasil wouldn't go for it.
3. I don't get what you mean by unclear. The guide itself is pretty clear...
4. Yeah, we're all (I would imagine) dump the guide's ranges and start over. I'll start as soon as people want to contribute again.
I was thinking about that but I asked a few people if they want reg ranges up they said yes. U could differenciate by just clicking the ranges can't u?
I just don't see the point in it. The title of a guide should be simple, and it's basically implied that some ranges will have potential stats, some ranges won't.
But I think in the rules, I wrote that it's advised that you type your equips' stats. So yeah you can tell the difference, but I really think you should change the title back...

Speaking of the rules, can I get credit for those too? I wrote them, and (not trying to be selfish, although that's probably what it looks like) credits should be given on anything that you didn't do.

What's the point.
Potentials ruined everything, lol.

@ TS: Sorry, I didn't even know when Jaacckk left the guide o.o And I was two owners ago now, I guess.
@neiiinei Good to have you back I guess lol, but I never knew you took it over
If I could ask a few questions...
1. Could you edit "xIdentity" in the credits to DrHye? That was my old basil ID. (You may also want to edit what it says, since it was Jaacck whom I gave the guide to)
2. Why make the guide named "Potential and Regular"? I don't see any distinction between ranges aside from what job level.

Just thought of this, did you wipe the guide before you started adding post-bb ranges? (Correct me if I'm wrong) All ranges were changed after big bang, making all pre-big bang ranges basically meaningless for the guide. I was planning on wiping mine out, but I've yet to get any post-big bang submissions...
