Mod note: auctioning in the forums

Hello Basilers,

First of all I'd like to inform you that I wrote this message by myself and that none of the other moderators or MrBasil are involved.

We're having a serious issue with people buying, selling and trading their items in the forums. I'd like to stress that until we receive orders that state otherwise, we have to suspend users for that. I'll quote rule #5 once again:

Rule #5 - Advertising
Talking about auctions, shops, listings, or other websites for the purpose of advertising is not allowed. Do not post or PM referral links. You are also not allowed to buy, sell, trade, give away, or ask for any of the following on the forums:
 Items
 Online currency
 Leech
 Characters
Accounts for any MMO or online service

People have been making their own rules recently, rejecting rule #5 completely. If I were able to change the rules I'd temporarily scrap parts of rule #5 as well so people would continue to be able to use this site for buying, selling and trading without being met with trolls or a system that hasn't completely checked out yet, but I don't have the authority to do that. The only person who has is MrBasil, if you want things changed you should submit tickets. I already PMed him pointing out the troubles with the Sell&Trade and the trolls, that was all I could do.

I'm sorry about this pretty unfair situation, but I can't change anything about that. :S

Best regards,

Pav

Too Long Didn't Read: I regret to inform you that until we are told otherwise by MrB, Rule #5 is still in effect in spite of the problems with the Sell & Trade system. Users who buy/sell/trade in the forums anyway will be suspended if caught. Sorry.

I requested its return, but didn't get an answer (yet). I honestly don't know.
why you care so much huh? does it make you butt hurting when people posting these?
Well, no. I don't know why you assume that. I don't think I would have held out nearly seven years on this site, three of them as a moderator, if I'd been that frail. But consider this. This warning will prevent people from being suspended. Isn't that worth something?

@Rondragon123: Been asking myself that same question.

Because it clogs up the forums with people selling stuff when it's supposed to be in its own section.
And
Because it's against the rules to do that.

@Rondragon123
(and everyone else)

All you can do is continue giving Mr. Basil feedback about the new system both by submitting tickets and by posting in the original announcement thread in the Site section.

Why not returning the old auctioning system than?

I can hardly post, dammit (excuse me). Every time I post a long comment an expletive word for the female bosom is detected. This is beyond annoying.
So I'll try and write this comment in pieces, see if that'll work.

@Glitchy: I sent MrBasil a PM pointing out all the problems I noticed such as false (and sexually inappropriate -_-) bids and auctions that are being extended into eternity because the auctioner doesn't get what s/he wants. The only thing Basilers can do is submit tickets and comment in the announcement thread Mrbasil made. Maybe he'll take the Sell & Trade down. I sure hope so, because he's losing customers. -_-

No way! That filter struck me 6 times while writing this comment. This is just... To state my feelings I'd really have to bypass the filter, no can do. -_-

Ahem: intiative. EDIT: No. Not the word.

Aaaaaaaaand we're back.

@und3rknight:
I have no clue what to do with that thread so I'm leaving it. Personally I like the initiative. It's harmless, friend, popular and doesn't do anything wrong except scratcing the surface of a controversial rule. The problem is that the that I don't want to set a precedent. >< I'm facing a bunch of dillemas here, I don't want to suspend these people.
I asked MrB to return the old auctions for the time being, plus the reimplementation of the Buying auctions. Nexon added so many limited and special items that they're more in demand than they ever were.
Good point, moving it right now. The more people see it, the less'll be suspended. I just had to warn someone for giving skillbooks away. Now that's when I feel like an ass.
so does that mean the skillbook exchange thread is against the rules?

and also @Ryonax is right about the auction system not working, the system was completely broken when it was changed I've seen auctions that have been there for months fetching the normal price of what the item is worth but the owner either lets the item stay so the bids hopefully rise or just simply never had the item since I heard we can no longer give feedback which made this a new way of trolling which i find quite disappointing so if possible bring back the old system because this one is not working and the way it's looking now it probably never will

also if possible check the filter I always get a warning because of the way my words are organized making the filter think it's a word which should not be used, maybe make the filter at least show where it is so I don't have to spend over 30 minutes looking for every possible combinations of words I have instead of posting and contributing to the basilmarket community
Tickets don't do anything @Pavchka
My entire time using this site he has not responded to a SINGLE one of my tickets, I've sent over 10, it's pathetic.
The auction system is completely screwed and I don't care if I get suspended if I want to sell something on a market site and I'm unable to then I will be making a thread because it is is all I can do, I don't even know how long I'm meant to wait to be able to use the auctions, it's ridiculous.
Acknowledged and logged, but I'll have no choice but to indeed suspend you if you try to auction in the forums. Users who will continue auctioning in the forums will be labeled "repeaten offenders" and those will receive increased suspensions and eventually even Extremes (although those are rare for rule #5 and I personally feel there are certain mitigating circumstances which will keep me from hitting that big fat Extreme button).
Does this count for P/Cs?
P/Cs are fine, as long as they're no "P/C or offer" threads. They're often combined.
@Pavchka: i'm sure you could make an exception, this is serving hardly any purpose down here.
Good point, moving it right now. The more people see it, the less'll be suspended. I just had to warn someone for giving skillbooks away. Now that's when I feel like an ass.
would be best to post this up in the general section, I've never seen this happening down here.
True, but to be honest I'm not sure if I'm allowed to put it there as per rule #6. ><
The problem's pretty bad in the job sections as well, it's bigger than we can handle unless we neglect the queue, which has 1300 reports in it.
