They are technically a melee class but are much like DBs and Dits in that their skills have a bit further range than your warriors, and they also have speed skills fj/haste/tele/yellow aura. The range of the mobbing attack is pretty nice because on paladin when I use acb I have to be close to the monster nearest me to hit it then others near that monster get hit, with BaM 5b has a set range that is generally pretty big so I can be pretty far from the monster and still hit it, far as compared to acb on my paladin not compared to genesis on a mage or hurricane on a bm. Hence melee, but there are some skills that are characteristically mage skills that they have but those aren't really main training/attacking skills, since they have cooldowns, but they do help clear mobs.

Ranged classes have 15% base mastery, melee have 20%, mages have 25%

Battle Mages are both melee (3/4/5/Finishing Blow, Tornado Spin) and ranged at the same time (Dark Shock, Adv Dark Chain, Dark Genesis).

I wouldn't call Battle Mages "ranged" or "melee". They're magic users, that's it (besides, BMage melee skills have a incredible range for a melee attack)

I don't know if it's a glitch or what but when i use Quad Blow from afar i hit the mob. so both they're both melee and ranged

Think of it like Warriors. Dark Chain=Monster Magnet
You don't call Warriors long range because they have Monster magnet.

It's primarily a close-ranged class, but they have some ranged attacks.
