Why is it a turn off when my girlfriend mentioned that she plays Black Ops?

I'm being serious here actually. When she mentioned that she plays Black Ops, i was like.. eh
It didn't really make me feel positive about it, it felt like a turn off. Does any one know?

Apparently she has a PS3 at her dad's home. I already know what i'm going to say/do when she asks for my PSN. I would take 5 min to think (deeply) about it and then quickly change the subject. Gamer girls just turn me off for some reason. She also has a 360 and plays halo 2 and reach. Strange thing is that we have a relation of about a year (officially on december 31) and i never knew she gamed, nor would i ever expect that from her.
This is really cheesy, but maybe she started playing for you? :]
or not.

How are you in a relationship with her for one year but missed this tiny detail?
It should be in this thread somewhere, don't really feel like typing it all out.

my mind is so messed up at the moment.
1) gamer girls are "masculine" apparently .. which isn't true but some guys think so

I played Halo with some girl from basil and she was too aggressive. Some times girls try to be really aggressive online because they want respect. I played Dead Or Alive online a couple years ago and a guy beat a woman and told her to go back to the kitchen when the match was over
First of all, is this "girlfriend" of yours even real or just imaginary, cause it seems to me like you have more than just a few major issues my friend (seeing how there are multiple threads, each with a new issue).
Second of all, why are you ranting in basil instead of talking things out with your "girlfriend" like a decent man should.
Third of all, nobody's perfect.
She's real. I'm just a big whiner who always has something to rant about. I only do that on forums though, i would be a pain in the ass towards my friends.
Dude. As man to man, for real, THIS IS PERFECT.
This is another stepping stone to furthering your relationship! Obviously, you've found more common ground with her.
I would personally try to "game" with her, and have fun with it. It's like playing with your male buddies! Trust me!
After it's all done, you can do a little bit more than CoD
''male buddies'' : her

no way, made me think even more.

don't have her tag yet. and if i did; i don't think she would like it if i gave it to other people.
dude youve got something in common with her, most guys would be extatic if they knew that their girlfriend was a gamer. So go 1v1 your girl in black ops and then she might want to 1v1 in bed.
Well, i'm not one of those guys.

Well as long as she isn't one of those girls that play games just to get attention ingame, then I see no problem with this.

Even if she is, she sounds like a hardcore gamer. That's pretty masculine. Yeah I wouldn't give her my gamertag or PSN because, well, what if she owns you?
And? It suddenly makes you less of a guy if your girlfriend beats you in a video game? You guys are hilarious...
Do you not play video games or something? Well, that's generally weird because you play Maplestory. Would it be cute and quirky if she played Maple rather than these "manly" games?
I don't play MS anymore, nor do i even visit basilmarket frequently. i'd rather see that happen then that.

@FREEZEPOP
many reasons;

we never discussed about console games or gaming. we're usually outside instead of spending time inside. and when we are inside; we're either at mines or at her mums doing random crap.

I see no reason why a girl who plays games is a turn off. And how could you not know beforehand your girlfriend of one year plays games?
I apologise for being so sexist.

It just doesn't feel right to me, how hard i try to get a long with it. I just think that it's too manly. Especially with Black Ops and Halo Reach.

Playing together..?
No way, i would probably think of an excuse. Honestly though, i have no problems with anything else but gamer girls. (note; even though it turns me off. it won't make me want to leave her or anything. that's ridiculous.
Is it that you feel like gaming is the male's domain? I feel like we've gotten to a point now where we're blurring the lines between traditional male and female pastimes. I have several straight male friends who get mani/pedis with their girlfriends, and if my boyfriend ever felt like getting one with me, I'd be more than happy to join him.

My boyfriend gets excited when we play Special Ops on MW2 together, it's fun to do that type of stuff, especially if you're both fairly good at fps. It's a fun way to spend time together without having to resort to watching a movie or some other random thing.
Wow, that's sexist. I play Black Ops, Halo, Red Dead Redemption, Bioshock and many other games, and I'm not quite sure why something's wrong with me playing them. My boyfriend of 8 years is not turned off by the fact that I play games like that either, and he doesn't even play them as much as I do. Girls who like games are just girls who like games. I'm still fairly feminine; I'm not even a tomboy.

I am quite glad that I'm a gamer girl from this thread.

I think the TS needs to just let his girlfriend do what she wants. Its a fun hobby. You'll be able to play together.

Thing is, I was raised on video games, so I never let them go. When I was little, the Genesis and SNES were all the rage, so all I'd ask for for Christmas when I was younger were games for my consoles...and the occasional dollhouse.

What's wrong with gamer girls?

Are you serious? Gamer girls are awesome - free thinking, independent, and often great looking although the last one is a generalisation. It's not even a masculine thing to play black ops.

Here's something that no one has suggested but that I've had problems with with girls:

the fact that she plays means she's wasting her life away; she has no initiative or goals.

@NotZach: He used the word "sex" 0 times. You used it 5 times and then ended your post with "judging by your post" gg.
"Turn-off" doesn't necessarily refer to sex.

2) you like being in control but she took up a male dominated hobby so your male egoism is threatened
3) CoD stinks. don't blame you. jk

So, you're saying that because your gf is able to explore different hobbies and find certain things she likes, which include killing virtual characters somehow turns you off sexually during the day when you're not having sex, and guessing that you're most likely a virgin, this is somehow affecting your love life in a negative way....? What goes on in the bedroom and what goes on outside of it, don't really matter. To me it just sounds like you're extremely insecure and have issues. Maybe you should start playing games with her and consider this a new opportunity to have fun with her when you're not having sex. Since obviously you have sex like 100% of the time and never dare to think of her as anything but something sexual, judging by your post.

If you already find her masculine, this might, in your head, make you find her a bit too masculine for your tastes.

....or the more logical answer would be that you would rather her in the kitchen.
