@icephoenix21:
Raiding will be released in the upcoming expansion (which means it'll be expansion exclusive). We don't really know much about it yet.

As for current endgame PvE content, there's fractals of the mists, which are fairly challenging dungeons.
With fractals, the maps you get are random, though after you've run them enough, you'll know how to clear them.
They scale from 1-50 at the moment, with each level increasing in difficulty and rewards.
At some point, the fractals will also introduce instabilities, which puts debuffs or changes some of the game mechanics while you're inside the fractal.
If you want to consider it endgame, there are also dungeon speedruns.

Some people consider sPvP (structured 5v5) as endgame. It's mostly conquest, but they're adding a mode called stronghold which is similar in playstyle to MOBAs.

There's also WvW, where you have 3 servers playing in a week long matchup, where you fight taking advantage of terrain and siege to hold objectives.
Within the gamemode you'll also find different types of players, though they're not mutually exclusive.
You'll have players who focus on earning points for holding objectives, by scouting and upgrading structures.
There are roamers who primarily seek out small fights or disrupt the enemy by cutting off their supply, though some will often just run around to duel others.
You also have GvG players, who prefer organised fights (deathmatch), with 15v15 and 20v20 being the most popular right now, and the one I'm most familiar with.
It's currently not an official game mode, but with the introduction of guild halls/arenas in the expansion it'll basically be one.
GvG guilds tend to run private raids within WvW, working alongside the public zerg to capture objectives whenever they don't GvG. (though they have public raids too)
The map cap in WvW is probably something like 60-80 per map per server, so it's not uncommon to see a huge clash between 50 players on the higher populated servers.

There are also world bosses in open world PvE which are effectively public raids, with some actually needing a fair amount of organisation to set up to clear.
Currently there are two maps (Silverwastes and Dry Top) in PvE which require players to spread out to complete events to advance the state of the map and make progress.
The expansion seems to be adding in more of these kinds of maps, and judging by what I've tried in the beta, it's looking pretty good.

@silentxynh: I appreciate you taking the time to reply to me. I currently play ffxiv and heavy into raiding with my static group, and pvp is what I do in-between content patches; so the lack of any raiding until the expansion is a bit off-putting to me perhaps I'll wait until the expansion is released and see how difficult it is.

WvW sounds similiar to ffxiv's Seal Rock pvp campaign mode, and it's currently my favorite thing to do- which is a 72 man match.

It sounds like it could be interesting but I'm not fully convinced to play it...yet. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on the updates/expansions, though.

@lynerus: can you tell me a bit more of why you feel that way? What other mmos have you played?

@icephoenix21:
Personally it's the combat system that has me hooked.

I'll just list some differences to the more traditional MMOs, which people have mixed feelings about:
-Lack of vertical progression/gear grind.
The best stat quality in the game is Ascended, which is overall something like a 5-10% DPS boost over Exotic while costing a substantial amount more. Legendary tier has the same stats as Ascended, with the additional perk of switching stat combinations outside of combat. Most of the PvE content is doable in Exotics, with higher end fractals requiring Ascended armour. The stat boost over Exotic is nice to have in WvW, but not necessary.

-Lack of 'holy trinity'.
There's no tank, DPS or healer in the game. Each class gets their own heal skill and can build for damage, support or control to varying degrees of effectiveness. Currently the dungeon meta is to run all glass cannons, with some players running projectile reflections. I would imagine raids would be different, but we'll have to wait and see.

-No 'direction'.
A lot of players complain that there's nothing to do when you hit the level cap. There's none of the 'hit x level, do y dungeon, do z raid' in GW2. IMO the game is as casual or as hardcore as you want to make it. Top GvG guilds can probably 7-0 middle tier guilds, speedrun guilds are a thing, so it's not like there's nothing to work towards.

UI is generic, but that's just a little peeve to some people. I don't like the art of it compared to some other games, but that's about it.

Edit: Let me fix that, the art is GOOD, just not my cup of joe.
