Help with chemistry! So, I have this problem; I'm trying to balance a chemical equation, and although I've done this a thousand times, I can't seem to get this one and I don't know why! Since I can't do subscript here, I'm going to put the small numbers in parenthesis. CO(2) + H(2)O -> C(12)H(24)O(12) + O(2) I swear I'm not stupid... T.T Off-topic: I'm drinking apple cider right now. It's delicious. Anyway, do any of you do that thing where you're drinking, but you face the back label towards you so the front label is facing who you're talking to, like you're walking product placement?

Help with lyrics please! I need a two-syllable emotion that has emphasis on the first syllable like "happy" or "baffled", but it has to sound natural in a pop-punk song.* Here's the sentence for which I need the word: "'Cause I'm hopelessly in ____" As you can plainly see, it's a play on the phrase "hopelessly in love" but with another noun instead of love. If it has to be done, the word can also be three syllables in its infinitive form. I don't want it to be too fancy, though, because my band keeps telling me to use simpler words in my songs. I don't get why teenagers can't deal with vocabulary, but I guess the band has a say in my song-writing too. So, any ideas? Edit: I don't need to keep the &quo

The difference between racism and frustration So, it seems to me that people are pretty ignorant when it comes to the definition of racism. Recently I posted a video on Youtube explaining my frustration when I was training at Jesters and a non-English-speaking Viet kid kept telling me to CC. I removed the video (I kept getting distracted; it was low-quality anyway,) but the only comment I got was someone telling me I was racist. Alright, people. Listen up. A racist is someone who discriminates against others for their race. If I'm getting frustrated because I can't communicate with someone, that doesn't make me racist. Am I supposed to just be giddy all the time when dealing with people to whom I can't speak? No, that's not how it wo

"Prolly" is NOT a word. Do any of you get as annoyed as I do when you see someone write "prolly" instead of "probably"? Or "Wendsday" instead of "Wednesday"? Or the wrong forms of "your", "you're", "there", "their," and "they're"? But worst of all, do you hate it when people write out "I could care less" instead of "I couldn't care less"? I mean, I know people talk about this a lot, but it's seriously not hard to spell words you should have known by third grade, or to write out idioms correctly. Heck, that's not even an idiom and people spell it wrong! Anyway, sorry for the rant thread.

A non-aggravating K- or J-drama? Okay, so I just finished a J-drama where, as is the case in most dramas, the girl ends up with the guy who doesn't deserve her and doesn't treat her well, and it's driving me insane. I guess I wouldn't mind that much if he were the only love interest, but there's always this really nice friend that loves her and cherishes her and he never wins, you know? Is there any drama where the girl ends up with the childhood friend or the kind love interest with a great personality? I'm tired of getting frustrated over terrible romance plots and need something refreshing. I don't mind whether it's Korean or Japanese, but I would prefer that it be an episodic drama. Not too long would be awesome too. (Also, I understand

Help with choosing band name Okay, so technically it's not a "band," but rather just a name to give myself for my own music. I already have a band, but I want to also create music separately from them. I don't like using my real name. I want a name that's one or two words long and doesn't necessarily invoke any certain emotion. A good example of this is "The Postal Service." Except one word shorter. I guess three words work as well, but one or two would be ideal. Any suggestions? Edit: I make ambient indie rock. Does that help?

Math help. Does not compute Hello there. I am a liberal arts major and thus do not understand math. Because of this, I am taking the math 130 course, which is mind-numbingly easy. However, I still don't get one of these questions. "States issue license plates by a general rule that there must be 6 digits, with each state deciding what each digit could be. If each digit could be 0-9 or A-K, how many possible plates could there be? (A possible plate is AC7-92J)" Could someone explain how to do this please? I know it's simple, but I'm getting insanely high numbers somehow. Like, crazy high. Over a billion. And I know that's not right.

WMG copyright claim makes no sense So, I made a drum cover on Youtube of FOB's "Dead on Arrival", and my video is blocked in some countries. This is what the notification says: Entity: WMG Content Type: Sound Recording As a result, your video is blocked worldwide. What should I do? No action is required on your part. Your video is still available worldwide. Wait... but it is blocked in some countries, and is therefore not available worldwide. But didn't you just say it has been blocked worldwide? You can't say two different things then compromise somewhere in the middle!

Need help finding a certain J-pop group I'm not talking about one of those all-girl pop groups like the ones Korea has (I am aware that Japan has them too, they just aren't quite as popular,) I'm talking about an all-male J-pop group that has only three members. Actually, I'm not even sure if it's pop. I remember one word from their name: Monkey. That's all I know. I remember the word "monkey" was in their name, and the name was in bad English. I loved their music, and I remember one of their music videos had to do with a teacher at graduation. That's it...wait! One of them had to do with a fat guy, and...one had to do with a dad coming to parents' day at his kid's school! Anyway, since Basil is so good with the pop groups in Asia

Song to match a poem? I need to find a song that matches the poem "Anthem for Doomed Youth" by Wilfred Owen. Here's the poem: What passing-bells for these who die as cattle? -- Only the monstrous anger of the guns. Only the stuttering rifles' rapid rattle Can patter out their hasty orisons. No mockeries now for them; no prayers nor bells; Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs, -- The shrill, demented choirs of wailing shells; And bugles calling for them from sad shires. What candles may be held to speed them all? Not in the hands of boys but in their eyes Shall shine the holy glimmers of goodbyes. The pallor of girls' brows shall be their pall; Their flowers the tenderness of patient minds, And each slow dusk a drawing-down of

Help with Government homework! I need to know some similarities between Republicans and Democrats for a Government assignment. Remember, similarities, not differences. Also, please don't make any smart-aleck comments like, "both suck" or "both are corrupt". I need actual political similarities, or at least moral similarities. I can't find any unbiased websites online and I was hoping some of the more mature members of Basil could present honest facts. Thanks a bunch! ^^

Let's stop making the same polls already. We've all seen the following topics: "Are you religious?" "What are your thoughts on gay marriage?" "What do you think of the government?" "Is Obama doing a good job?" "What do you think about <insert some controversial topic here>?" "Do you believe in ghosts/aliens/God?" Look, I hate to sound annoying, but cut the crap already. These questions get asked dozens of times a month. Give it a rest. We're all opinionated and want to express our thoughts freely, but why don't we do it in a more constructive manner and ask what needs to be asked rather than what gets us the most replies?
