Should i get an Ipod touch 4g?

Hey guys my birthday is coming up in 1 week from today and i asked my parents for a ipod touch. Well my mom thinks its stupid because you cant call on it. And my dad just keeps coming up with things why i shouldnt get it. So i want the 4g 8gb one and i read reviews that its really great some people say its alright... but i read this one review that said it gets boring after 4 or 5 weeks. It could be just him but im just turning 13 so will it stay fun? Im asking all of you should i get one or not? Whats good about it whats not?
