Post big bang you'll want to consider using 1H and a shield for the potential bonus from the shield.
Right now I'd personally go 2H.
I guess it depends on what you're training on.
If it takes you the same amount of hits to kill things on average with both 1H and 2H, then I'd go with 1H.

After bb, you get a huge amount of def bonus with that skill, forgot how it was called. So if you can get a lvl 80+ shield with a nice pot and some attack, I would definitly go 1h.

edit: I read somewhere that, if you want to be on par with a 2h weapon that has the same attack, you would need a 8 att shield minimum, since 2h weapons have more stable dmg. Could be wrong though.
