I really liked Spirited Away. I saw it on Bayzil TV when we still had that... I haven't seen any of the others really, though, so I won't vote

I loved Gintama best comedy ever.
I just started watching one piece. I watched 200 episosdes in approx. 2 weeks it was awesome.
School Rumble is also very funny.

K-on has the bestest music and is so cute
High School of the dead was epic.
Angel Beats was soo sad.

I'm not talking about mecha irl -.- I'm just saying that the genre, by definition, does not limit itself to sci-fi, therefore leaving room for it to exist in different themes such as fantasy. The basic concept of the mech is still the same, just with different backgrounds.

And if you want modern-day "mech," especially ones from Japan... some of the exoskeleton research of this decade is actually quite interesting <3

Mecha, by definition, envelopes the whole genre of (generally walking) vehicles that are usually controlled by a pilot somehow. They need not to be solely science-fiction, though an overwhelming majority are.

Kuragehime deserves to be in Romance along with underdog.

Bakemonogatari is not a 2010 show. If it was, it'd be anime of the year. As it stands, Tatami Galaxy, which is absent form your list, deserves that title.

List is mediocre at best, and it's just nominations.

"Of All Time" list is better, but you can't put Mecha in the Sci-Fi and then give Mecha its own category. Where the hell is Eureka 7 in all of that, anyways?

Romance genre is pitiful. Where's Toradora? Bakemonogatari is more of a Romance than a Fantasy. 5 Centimeters Per Second is one of the best pieces of animation I've ever seen, but it's not a romance. It's a movie about distance, not about romance. Bokura Ga Ita deserves at least a nomination as one of the most realistic romances in anime.

How can you have comedy and not mention Ouran High School Host Club or Honey and Clover?

The rigid genres leave out lots of excellent anime (i.e. Beck) that break the mold. Speaking of Beck, why isn't that in the Soundtrack awards?

I would list 5cm under drama, personally, as that's the genre that characterizes the title the most. However, it's still a romance, though not necessarily of the medieval or novel variety. BECK technically falls under the drama category.

And mecha, by definition, doesn't necessarily mean it's under science-fiction all the time. There are titles that include mecha, without any form of notable form of science-fiction (one such notable title would be Mashin Hero Wataru). Subgenres like steampunk definitely goes under sci-fi, though steampunk can also be classified as historical to some extent.
