Picking a Thief
So I am getting very bored of my Phantom and I'm not sure what to do. I've always loved my hermit, and was thinking of making a new one with the 1+1 event out. I have 71% luk right now, and am picking up another 24% soon for a total of 95%. Which isn't too shabby I suppose. But I want to get other opinions before I spend over $25 xferring my stuff. As for the other thieves, I mained a DB before and got hacked, so that class is kinda ruined for me. Shads look nice but the low DPM is unappealing. I could always keep going on my phantom, it's 170 and I do enjoy playing it, but I feel like more of a HS mule in LHC parties ._.
I guess I'm just looking for your guys opinions on the thief class. Are shads fun? Would it be worth it to fund one? Or should I go with a NL? Or Keep with my Phantom?

Shade Splitter might take a bit of getting used to, but it's really nice. Just try a Sin/Hermit/NL, you don't need much funding to level fast up to 4th job, so just figure if it's the right job for you and then decide if you want to invest more into it. xD
After the unlimited patch, I believe the DPM rank for the thieves are :
1)Shad
2) DB
3) NL
4) Phantom
Even right now, Shads are not weak. And I'm not sure how long ago your Hermit was, but if this was before they took away avenger, playing a NL is much different. To be honest, I love boomerang step on my Shad, but carnival is a bit slow to me (compared to phantom blow). I think a DB is way more fun, but that's just my opinion.
So I guess to answer your question, yes it would be fun to play a shad. I enjoyed mine very much.
What this guy said is pretty accurate except if your going to be extremely funded Phantom or DB is the way to go but without funs don't bother with these two.
i improved a bit since about a month ago, i have 126k range self buffed, w/o echo, and i hit 600-620k on reg mobs and i cap on bosses
@pureskrillage What is your range and what do you hit per star? If you don't mind me asking.
speaking very biased here, i think NL's are the most fun thief class i've played to this date, i have a level 184 phantom, played a shad till fourth and DB as well, and i would say i had the most fun with NL's, and i've honestly been an NL since 2007, went through 4 NL's, (only 2 made it to 4th job, lvl 174 - bera, 200 - broa )

Yea DB's are insanely fun and I loved mine to death, but ever since I got hacked I just can't get back into it
And yea my hermit was a very long time ago, I still have it haha, it was made in the summer of 2010. But it's on that account that got hacked so I don't want to fund it. Do you think NLs/Shads are for better or worse after their revamp?
