Laptop Monitor for Desktop?

I have this dead laptop that I took apart and I was wondering if I could use the laptop monitor as the monitor for my desktop? Obviously I would need some kind of hardware or adapter but I'm not quite sure what that piece of equipment is..so just wondering. And is that the only thing I need for the laptop monitor to work properly as a desktop monitor. Thanks

The screen on a laptop is not a complete computer monitor, just a display screen. You need the electronics used to convert the output signal from the desktop computer into signals that can be displayed on the screen.

It could be done, but it's not a common thing, would require being able to build the necessary electronics and would cost more than an actual desktop monitor.

There is a cable, usually with the ends blue, that you would plug into a desktop computer and the monitor. Both ends are exactly the same, so just plug in the cable into the computer and the laptop. Since you took apart the laptop, you will need to have some parts of the laptop repaired, which will cost more than a new monitor.
