How did you like Obamas speech tonight?

Personally I feel the speech wasn't as strong as some of his others/other people's speeches at the convention (like Clinton's) but it was still quite good. Really gotta commend him, and everyone else who spoke, for not mentioning Romney's name in every other sentence the way Romney did with Obama.

Edit: see this is what i meant except this is probably a more moderate viewpoint and the comments are frequently conservative white people tired of obama http://news.yahoo.com/obamas-dull-pedestrian-convention-speech-why-did-play-070500638--election.html

Chris Matthews nailed it when he said the Republican't convention sounded like a boring businessman's convention.
By contrast tonight sounded more like a rock concert.

Also the Republican'ts very oddly didn't seem to have the kind of production values behind their convention that are normally expected.
Andrea Mitchell was really critical of that when she talked about how every second during the one hour "prime time" coverage on the three major networks was priceless and they just seemed to be wasting that opportunity. The inclusion of Clint Eastwood's rambling 11 minutes (which bumped the far more effective video showing Mitt Romney as a family man) was especially puzzling, especially because it was on the most important night.

Joe Scarborough was really critical of the way the Republican't staging was done, with Paul Ryan in front of a dull gray background and (I don't remember exactly who it was) in front of a shifting blue background he said was reminiscent of a 1960's Star Trek special effect. He said by contrast, Mayor Julian Castro's speech was given in front of a sunny, hopeful looking bright yellow background. He said these things sound unimportant but the staging is normally very carefully crafted, and this time the Republican'ts just blew it.

Again by contrast, the Democrats seemed to be fully in control of both the timing and staging all the way through their event.

And yes, far more optimistic.

obama promising to do everything[/quote]
I didn't hear any "promises to do everything".

I heard him say it's going to take longer than 4 years to finish recovering from the second worst crash in the nation's history.

What "promises" did you hear..?

the basic argument is that romney spends his time trashing obama yet he himself hasn't shared his own plan for the economy.

both groups focus on the middle class, the republicans glorifying tax cuts to cut welfare (so people should get jobs), and the democrats trying to expand welfare to those who need it because it's not like they don't want jobs. at least we're in this together and "not on your own".

Despite the fact I really dont want either candidate to win, I like BO much more then W. I can't imagine Mitt ever being a decent president, only as a president that fumbles and screws us over. At least we've seen some progress under BO...

Excellent speech, rocked the house.

Romney and Ryan's acceptance speeches pale in comparison to Obama and Biden's.
