Petition to Re-allow curse words with spaces

Petitions are useless but I'll do them anyways.

Curse words should be blocked, but if there is a space or comma between them, they should be allowed. When people cuss on these forums, they don't add spaces or punctuation between them, they spell them differently. For example, if the word "apple" was a curse word, then they'd spell it "appel" or "aple" or "appol." Not "app-le" or "a p p l e."

So what's the reason? Well, it's pretty annoying when I'm typing up a response, only to be prevented from doing so because of a single word. For example, the word "tit" used to be banned, because when people typed "but it," it would be notified as a curse word. This applies to many other words. For example, I want to type "Put 0n." However, Put 0n is a curse word, because of the first four letters. Quite annoying.

Agreed?

I wonder...
Is Amanda still filtered?

@mrbasil
While I can definitely see the need for a filter of sorts, the current implementation is quite absurd. I have a guide in the Bishop subforum that is incredibly long, but I havn't been able to update it at all due to this filter thinking I'm cursing even though I'm not. It's recognizing the the spaces and it makes posting/editing anything long impossible. I feel that reverting to the previous filter until you can figure out the right balance is better than keeping the current filter while you think of it. It just makes guide/thread guide writing impossible.

i wish mrb would remove posting restriction and, instead, implement something similar to what they did in youtube - add a "spam" or something, so that the community itself filters the bad comments (instead of relying on a crappy filter)
Why would that word be in your essay, even if it a mistake?
It wasnt really that. I can't say the real word, even with parentheses.

@Lordofrage:

I'm a bit confused since I've used basil since 2007 and I've never used either sleepywood or southperry. I'm saying that people are attention hoaring now, not before.

It's pretty annoying. I wanted to say,"<Plural word> hits cap." Seriously? .
Back then on this one large post I made, I had to search "Of a <word that starts with g>" too >.<.

The filter supposedly never recognised spaces, but right now it's become ridiculously sensitive. </3

Sometimes I type up a really long post. Let's say the word "gay" was banned. I choose this example since it used to be banned in MapleStory.
Anyways, I say "bringing a yacht" or "swinging a yardstick" or "signing a yearbook" or even "I'm showering... aye." Simply using CTRL+F and searching "gay" would not work, I'd have to search "g a y" or "g... ay" While there aren't many scenarios where this can happen with the word gay, take my example from the original thread.

I want you to stay put. 0n my way.

That sentence would have been blocked by basil. I would have had to search the word with a space and a period.

@Lordofrage
Are you saying that's a good or a bad thing? It's definitely a bad thing, since it just means there's less community and more attention hoaring.

It is quite annoying when my response gets deleted because of a word, but I think that's what should be changed instead of the curse word filter then.

I've got a text recoverer anyway.

This filter is pretty stupid IMO. At the very least, it should just change the characters to asterisks.
