Ms Chat Misinterpretations

Think about texting. Do you guys ever feel the difference when someone says "Hi." and when someone else says "HI!"? The tone in the words just sound different.
On Maple, the tone used in phrases can be related.
"Lol" sounds pretty normal, "LOL" sounds enthusiastic and "Lol?" just sounds downright sarcastic and rude sometimes (at least from my experiences).
Recently a now-ex-friend misinterpreted what I was saying on Maple and now I'm labeled as an immature jerk apparently, thus motivating me to make this thread. Please state your opinions on the misinterpretations and the concept of Maple "texting" below
@xerces: Well you see im on Basil to read posts, you should have had a side note saying (this post is for 8 years and it's about as gay as aids, strong chance to give cancer)
That side note would look better posted on your forehead

Still wouldn't want a voice chat feature for maplestory though.

I had a phase where I added an emoticon at the end of every sentence so I could make sure my tone got across as intended. Didn't work out as well I thought; for a while my guildmates thought I was a girl.

When I say "lol?" with that question mark, it's because a friend sent me something or said something that is supposed to be funny (and he's loling in chat) and I say "lol?" because I don't understand the joke. ;-;

People will always misinterpret things. One time I was apqing with a friend and he was teasing me by insulting me a lot, and the males of our apq party kept attacking my friend to leave me alone and lots of white knight stuff. My friend finally said "dude, she and I are friends" and the party members were like "Oh, b-but that's still rude!".
Another problem I have is that when people say "oh" in maplestory, I assume they're disappointed or bored when they're not. LOL.

Anyways, I'm usually quick to say "what do you mean?" "elaborate!" "I don't get it! What does that have to do with anything?" So I can usually clear up misunderstandings before they happen. Especially with maplestory's censoring now. People always have to explain things twice or re-explain because a crucial word was censored. x.x
the only thing that erks me is the censoring. It just wastes time tbh
judging someone over what they say online in maple makes me think your friend needs to grow some balls.

It's all perspective and how the person interprets it.. Sounds like your friend was just irritated when you said whatever you said
