Lgt People with swim team experience

Hey basil. I'm not on an official swim team, but its a club swimming and we have races sometimes. Yesterday, my coach told us that we have a race next week, and I have to swim in 3 events (Team Medly, Team freestyle, and 100 IM)
I haven't much race experience- this is my second one, and the last one didn't go too well
What i wanted to know is that when you have to swim more than one event, how do you preserve enough energy for the next one? Whenever i sprint I usually go all out, and I am completely exhasuted. There is a slight break in between each event, but I feel that it isn't enough. I think it would be fine if I was just swimming the TM and TF (I am swimming 50free for the TM and 50free for TF) but if I have to swim the IM as well, I'm not sure how to handle this. Its probably the most embarassing event because there's only 4 people swimming, and everyone's watching. Last time i did it i lost by over half a lap...
Im going go try and convince her not to swim the IM, and I really doubt I have a choice.

Don't sweat it! The first thing to remember is what you're doing and to have fun. Particularly in that IM, it's a nasty event for beginners. Just stay relaxed and do your best!

In terms of keeping up your energy, always keep hydrated. Water is good, Gatorade is great. (Don't chug, sip!) Eat well, but don't binge especially before a race as that will weight you down. Avoid being excessively hot (hot tubs, sun, etc.) as your muscles will relax and you'll feel drowsy and likely won't be able to perform when you're needed. Don't worry about your rest either, 50 freestyle shouldn't drain you so much that you should need more than 15 minutes between races.

Good luck to you!

@Jester you have a point. It's a bit greedy of me to hold back during the Team Medly and Team Freestyle just so I won't lose the Individual medly as bad
