Gay marriage and what not
In our modern society, one of the biggest issues is gay marriage. What both sides need to know is that given today's context, there is a differential between church-ordained traditional marriage and state-granted secular marriage. Christians are going ape poop because they feel that by allowing same sex marriage, the state will force the church to give up their beliefs in traditional marriage. Likewise, members of the LGBT community as well as people not in the church tend to view church goer's as bigots because they do not support same sex marriage. People need to realize that there are 2 separate types. Anyways, best solution IMO:
1. If a church does not want to marry a gay couple. Don't force it. It's against their biblical beliefs. No, they're not bigots lol.
2. If a gay couple wants to get married, do it by the state. That way, they're happy and the church is happy. If a church wants to marry them, fine
Summary: A lot of Christians have the misconception that same sex couples want to encroach on their beliefs. LGBT supports think the church wants to burn them all.

Why is marriage even a thing
and here we go again.
If a church thinks gay people in general is going against gods belief, god wouldn't have made them.
Church is implying that LGBT is nothing more than a strange fetish.
Move to Canada, we love the gays!
Christians aren't just against gay marriage, they're against homosexuality itself.
Not really. Most Christians are just against gay marriage. No where in the bible does it say that god is against gay's. It's just that we are against gay marriage, mostly because in the bible it says that marriage is between a man and a woman, not a man and man, etc. It doesn't mean that I'm against gays.
"In our modern society, one of the biggest issues is gay marriage."
I would have worded it: 'In our modern society, one of the biggest issues is people who think that gay marriage should even be an issue to begin with'.
Cliff notes:- Nobody getting pissed @ the issue understands how government works.
gay couples who wish (yes, religious gays exist) should still be able to be married in a church. i'm not saying force a church to do it, but if a church wishes to marry gays then that's their prerogative.
I've always argued for this solution. The term "marriage" itself is what's problematic. I could go into a whole different rant about that, but basically I'd love to see civil unions become equally regarded as marriage, not only in legal terms but also in social ones. Imagine people saying "unified" instead of "married" and that's pretty much what I want.
Me too, i find it discusting, but i don't nessesarly hate them or will bash them, and fyi i'm for gay rights, but against gay marriage.
What rights do they have then if they aren't even allowed to get married?
I'm atheist but I still hate gays. In a recent survey, plain disgust was the #1 reason for homophobia.

I think there's a problem here.
Don't have to be Christian to marry, just ask for a sheet of paper and/or do a different ceremony. But if you're a white American than no.
and here we go again.

I hate when people say it will invalidate the sanctity of marriage. Marriage has been around since Greek times, before Christianity was popular. Gay Marriage was also legal in Ancient Greece. But ye, kind of agree with this post.
