Bishops can fight

Erm... I have no point to make actualy.
Kinda wanted to share my story. NO I don't want a cookie, leave the thread if you have something better to do. Thanks.

6 years ago I started playing after I saw my friend play the game. they told me about all of the class ("ALL"... hehe, there were only 10).
As soon as I heard about the clerics - I fell in love with this class.
I was told they can heal themselves, and by doing that - also kill zombies (you can imagine how it sounds cool BEFORE you actualy see the game).
That is when I got my dream goal: being a Fighting Cleric. And to be acknowledged as one by lots of other players.
Back then there were fewer people online, and high level players were well known.
I wanted to be a well known Priest (back then there was no 4th job) and to fight among all of the Hermits, Chief Bandits, Warriors, and archers.
I had like 5 accounts full of Magicians wannabes (levels 8~13). I was a total noob (unlike now, since now im partly a noob).

As the game progressed and developed, and got more and more to offer, my love to clerics never left me.
And so, one day (5 years ago) I created "HolyGiraffe" ^ yep, this little fella.
I quitted playing a million times, and came back a million times. Always to the same player. I did try other classes, and I do have now different characters from different classes, But a fighting Bishop was always my dream.

Needless to say, today such childish idea is not possible. Even if I had a level 200 pro mega funded bishop with hundreds of billions, I can't go past level 200, and lots of bishops have been there.
Being a famous bishop in Broa isn't possible anymore. But that little dream never left, so I still somehow try to be that.
So today I reached level 168. Training in LHC isn't easy with all of the Luminouses, Kaisers, ABs, and the rest of the OP classes.

You bet your @ss it's difficult to keep up with those players. Yet I hang on. I can kill Crockies pretty fast (for a bishop lol), and I do plenty of damage. Max Aracne Aim plus Max Infinity helps me deal a great mass of damage. Mobility isn't as high as every other class (at least im not a recoil shot user lol) and my attacks are outspeeded by almost every class. So yea, I am a non-funded Bishop, with lots of dreams and motivation but no chance to actualy make it.

I really have nothing to ask, or to discuss, I just wanted to say what I had to say. And no matter how many times people will tell me a Bishop is just not designed to be a fighting class, I will ignore that and keep on trying.
BTW: I have no NX, and I can't merchant. So my lame 40m fund is all I got, and it's well enough to buy me potions.

Haters gona hate.
TL;DR:
I'm a bishop, I like to fight as if I was a badass Kaiser, and dream to be famous for beating bosses like a boss with a supportive type class. That's it.

Allow me to copy pasta what I said in an earlier thread. Some of the points are different but it's definitely still relevant.

Are you guys still arguing over this?

People, people-- CALM DOWN.

The point of the thread is, and has already been explained that: Though the Bishop stereotype exists it no longer applies to people who actively play their Bishops. It applies because due to recent patches Bishops have the potential to be a class that can attack. And no, we're not going to compare classes, because it's not about them. It's about BISHOPS. Yes a Bowmaster with the exact same amount of funding as a Bishop will have faster damage and whatnot but that's not the POINT.

The point is that Bishops have changed. Now we're not the best attackers but that doesn't mean we can't be attackers. And we can say that now because of the recent patches. Assuming no class is funded it's fair to say that a Bishop can attack while dealing a substantial amount of damage.

If we take funds into account, then yeah, everyone knows a class can be super duper woopdy doo strong.

There are countless mules but those aren't Bishops, they're mules. It's the exact same as a person using a level 10 noob to merch. It's a mule. Not an explorer or whatever their character is.

We can so fight!

Eventually, because of these negative stereo-types about us Bishops,
The maple world will have a Bishop Apocalypse where everyone will flee in our presence.
Simply because we can heal ourselves and allies and fight forever!

xKabookyx the most "famed" bishop in Broa

Also, prior to big bang, MingonBeart was the bishop goddess of Broa. Cici had all her perfected int equips like those infamous chaosed yellow snow shoes (prior to potential when int> magic attack for mages )
Stop making excuses.

First off, damage does not equal fame. Damage might draw attention, but who you are is what becomes famous. You don't need damage.

Second, Bishops are designed for support, but that doesn't mean that they are not designed for damage.

All adventurers gets screwed by the new classes, not just bishops.

Being an attacking Bishop is a childish dream that's impossible? Really? You have never seen a Bishop do decent damage?

Impossible to be a famous Bishop? No one is a Bishop in Broa. Just by being a Bishop you are half way there.

These things might be difficult, but difficult is not impossible.

If you care enough you can make it happen.
I guess you have a point. But being a bishop alone doesn't make me famous...
I do care, and I do my best everyday.

You're trying too hard, little boy. The only "decent" attacking skill they have is AR.......WEEEAKSAUCE....and no variability....WEAAAAKKSAUCEE. And AR isn't really.....

Go on and attack Most of the time when I get bored I usually wander off to LHC and encourage bishops to attack. There is no reason for anyone to play the leach game, even if they think they are weak.

You all should add me ... (;

Edit: Being a famous Broa bishop is possible. My inspiration 2 years ago was Bentlyz ... before he quit. He was a Broa bishop who topped off almost 100k range before Empress equips came about--back when Reverse and VIP Equips were still the best option. I think his wand is now somewhere in Scania, despite him being a Broan xD
Bentlyz was one of my inspirations!

Broa bishops unite! <3 <3 <3
I've also dreamed of being powerful and despite not being able to attack as fast or hit monsters as many times as other classes, I like to stay off the rope and attack with my party Sadly I think after I reach 200 I will be quitting my bishop. There seems to be no more place for us when we are just considered HS mules When I came back from hiatus at the end of 2011 and discovered LHC, I was amazed at how many parties complimented me for actually doing my job as a bishop to heal and buff on time on top of attacking. We have been brought so low by impostors
However, you are free to buddy me if you want. Maybe I'll see you around

Totally. Recent times have pushed Bishops down to rope huggers, leechers, and HS mules. I remember even though I can kill Crockies just as quick as everyone else, I was still told not to attack and can just sit on the rope.
A lot of people don't want to put much effort into this class because you can get much more in other classes with ease and less effort.
I appreciate everyone who are proving that Bishops can hit great damage. It feels much more rewarding too because it requires more work to do.

Nice thread mate. +1 like!

Always had the same aspirations as you.

Prepare though, wall of text incoming!

Been a fan of mage / magic classes even since I've been playing RPG's. Cleric / priest / bishop sounded so cool to me.
Couldn't ever get my cleric past level 50 though, so I quit and started playing again. That circle kept on happening, until I made it.

After I made it to 3rd job it all went so fast. As of today I made it to 187, thanks to a lot of experience that came from Red Leaf High.
Just bought Empress gear some time ago, got myself a htp with the help of a friend. Another great friend helped me get the mastery book for Angel ray; Which wasn't easy because of me, either dying or dc'ing during boss runs.

The road to becoming and finally being a bishop isn't the easiest path you can take, at least; It wasn't for me.
But in the end, I had the most fun with a journey to the level I have reaced today. More than with any other class I ever played.

It's a shame you're not in BelloNova or that I'm not in Broa, whichever way you want to look at it. To be honest, I think you would make a nice friend, which I do not have many on my buddy list.

And now: With my head held high, my wand ready and Bahamut by my side I look forward to the future. A short and yet so long road, the rest of the path that is still in front of me. The road of a, once puny mage on his way to become a level 200 Bishop!

And remember my fellow Bishop: You never walk alone!
